Default Select area between markers action?

Is there an action or combination of actions to
select between markers?
I am trying to make a custom action for recording sessions.
I want to put a marker down at the beginning then when I want to stop set another marker, then select between the markers, then add a region.
Move forward a bit, leave a blank space then start recording again.

Again - is there a way to select between markers from an action so it will add the loop points between the markers.
I have looked but can't seem to find this action.
There is an sws convert markers to region, but then i loose the markers. I think there is a select region, but then how to get the markers back....?

Don't think there is, but see if you can find a setup using Marker/Region manager and Region Playlist (and actions related to each).

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but double-clicking in the timeline between two adjacent markers creates a time selection between the markers.

This is what I use. I bet there is an action in the list though...
(NIFOR).

I take it you will use a STOP and a REC button.

Here are the custom actions:

@berwig
That is very close to what I had in mind.
Thank you very much. I will edit my session action to incorporate this.

I tried
---- actions
transport: Stop (save all)
Marker:insert new at current pos
options: new recording trims existing items behind new recording(tape mode)
time selection:copy time select to loop points
sws:convert marks to regions
Transport:record
----
which works but did not give me the space between which I think is important, it just slices and starts again.
I will experiment. Thanks.

Here's is what I like after incorporating your stuff.

Again this is for recording and I just hit a key or footswitch at the end of a tune - or work on a tune.
Use your set mark and record to start or just set the first mark manually as I have to set a few things at the beginning anyway.
then use your most of your actions.

So - the current macro of actions goes like this
hit my footswitch with midi trigger

-markers insert at current postion
-transport:stop(saveall recorded media
-markers:insert region from selected items (I had no idea you did not have to select them first, nice)
-transport go to end of project
-move edit cursor to start of next measure (I like the beginning on the next measure better)
-file: save project (in case of future crash stuff will be saved)
-markers insert marker at current position
-transport record

repeat at the end of every song - or work on a particular song.

Wonderful - thanks a million.

After doing this, is there a way to add adjacent portions? What I mean is, if I select between markers 1 and 2 by double clicking, how can I also extend the time selection to include the space between markers 2 and 3?

thanks!

Shift-click will extend the selection to wherever your mouse is.

Right, I know that, but I mean how can I specifically extend it to the next chunk automatically (so as to make use of the markers... otherwise, yes, it goes without saying that you can just do all the selection freehand)

I think one of my old EEL scripts has an option to start and end the TS on markers.

Look at the CD tool in my sig. You click "T-sel start" and then a marker in the list, then "T-sel end" and another marker in the list. This should create a TS between the markers -this is from memory as I've not used it for a few months.

I'll fire the laptop up and check once I've woken up...

Just making sure that anyone reading this (not just your good self) knew that you don't have to drag them out all by hand. You can use hotkeys to navigate to markers and shift-click with snap settings.

Not exactly what you asked for, but not what I would describe as exactly "freehand" either.

Default selecting time selection between markers using buttons

I spent time myself trying to figure out a simple task at hand
without using a mouse that is ( an extended button usb pad close
as possible to my keyboards )
This also moves the edit cursor back to the start of left marker

I came up with this...

First rules of use:

Edit cursor must lie between markers of choice.
example: anywhere between markers Left and Right of area you are working on.
( no mouse )

create custom action called : Time Select bla bla bla.....
--------------------------------------------------------
Action List:

SWS/AW Enable"link time selection and edit cursor'
SWS Goto/Select previous marker/region
Action: Set action loop start ( used in custom actions only )
SWS/AW : Disable' link time selection and edit cursor'
Markers: go to next marker / proj end
Time selection: Set End Point
Markers: go to previous marker / project start

Note:
Dont use SWS goto next marker, it WONT work !

Do this and it will work !

Reaper is the best in the world by far !!!
