Pipeline is there a Faster way?
.
Look guys i Dont have a massive list of Requests
Just a few which i will post seperatley. the
Following feature could be a very handy one
for quick edits(Unless of course
i am overlooking something already there)
, Justin Plz allow me to Plead my case :
please make the Marquee selection
affect only the events (and parts of
events)in the Bluestreak...the loop selection.
when i click the mouse and drag accross
a blank area of a Track this gives me the
loop area, the Bluestreak if you will..
this loop area performs a duel role
in Vegas. not only is it a quick way to
loop playback but its also acts as a
poweful editing tool.
lets say i want to delete the middle
section of 10 events going down 10 tracks.
in Vegas its 3 steps
i click the mouse and drag accross timeline
highlighting the width.this would give me the
Blue area like in reaper, the basic selection,
Setting the Boundries.
then i choose the selection tool and drag it
within the selection area going down all
10 tracks. this would highlight those events.
then i push the delete key on the Keyboard.
Done, 6 seconds or less.
Just the parts of the events that are within
the Boundry are Deleted. even if i wave the
selection tool way beyond those 10 tracks...still
only the parts of the events that are within
the Boundry (the highlited Blue area) would be Deleted.
trying to do somthing similar in reaper,
Deletes all of the Events in thier entirety.
pipeline , rednroll am i overlooking a
faster way?
if not then
maybe it could be that when there is no Loop area
(by hitting ESC key) then in that case the whole
events would be deleted....but with the loop
selection on, it would be Just the pieces of events
that are within the Bluestreak affected.

Seeing the same thing here, even using Split first does not cause the expected results.
The closest is, select the tracks > drag a selection (loop area) > R-click the selected area > Remove contents of selection (moving later items).
Ideally I would prefer to just delete with Ripple off leaving a hole or move later items with Ripple on.

I bet we can get that functionality. I rarely use that way of splitting but I do remember it being VERY handy for re-arranging a song.

Current method seems to be (with ripple edit off) ...
1. Create loop selection
2. alt-rightclick-drag to marquee & thus select items
3. shift/S to split
4. press delete, to delete only those parts of the selected items within the loop selection.
Steps 1 & 2 can be reversed if preferred.
As I mentioned elsewhere, use of plain rightclick/drag might be used to cut the number of steps down.

Afterthought - if you want to add some random items to the marqueed group, you have to use ctrl/left click, which doesn't fit well with the alt/right click/drag method of marqueeing. In other words, to marquee a group of items you should really be using ctrl/leftclick drag, to match ctrl/click to select individual items.

Ctrl/alt/rightclick (and drag if appropriate) actually does crack it altogether - no need to change to ctrl/leftclick.

Er... there does seem to be a bug here actually, when using Ripple All Tracks.
If you have continuous material on all tracks with Ripple All Tracks enabled - eg editing a live 8 track recording - and you create a selection highlight somewhere in the middle, ctrl/click all the items, press shift/S, and that has created a split section all the way down - fine. The split-off items are highlighted - fine. But if you delete or cut them, everything on all tracks disappears.
I realise that to remove the loop-highlighted stuff across all tracks there is a specific command, but what I'm trying to do is to chop a section out of all tracks and insert it across all tracks somewhere else using the new full ripple edit facility.
