Record Button size
hi guys and gals,
I want to make the Record Button big.
I have searched and tried stuff before starting this thread.
I am using and am quite happy with the Classic_1.x theme.
I tried making it bigger in Preferences > General >
advanced UI/system tweaks > scale UI elements
of track/mixer panels, transport.
I tried 2 and 3 x.
did not like it.
I checked out the default Reaper 6 theme.
the Record Button is bigger.
but I want it even bigger, if possible, and maybe
even keep using Classic_1.x.
any thoughts anyone?
Charlie

In order to scale *only* the record-arm button, you need to dig into the rtconfig.txt file, which is a color theme's file holding the code which determines the sizes, placement and scaling of elements such as the record-arm, mute, solo buttons, etc.
Depending on how the rtconfig.txt is coded, this can be anywhere from relatively simple to a huge headache.
There may be other methods for scaling elements within the v6 color theme, but I'm not aware of what they would be.

I checked the video out.
could anyone please help me to get started to do this?
I need to know how to get started.
simple step by step.
I have Windows 10.
I need to know what text editor to use.
do I just use Notepad?
and how to get into the rtconfig.txt page.
and does anyone know what the range is for the changing the
record button size?
it says its at 2 right now, on the screen in the video.
thanks for any help,
Charlie

thank you very much.
I checked out Reaper 6 default theme.
it was easy to change the Record button size to bigger.
but now I want to make the color lighter.
its very dark.
I want it to be light, just like in Classic 1.
could you please tell me if I can do that, and how?

There is an action called:
Theme development: Show theme tweak/configuration window
but you could have find out that yourself by looking in the thread I've linked in my previous post..

The record button color is determined in the .png. Has to be changed with something like GIMP or Photoshop.

The whole thing? That would be a huge task. There's a lot you can change in the theme tweaker, but a lot of the GUI is .png images. You'd have to modify MANY in Photoshop. Probably better to use a different theme, wait until someone inevitably makes a v6 light edition, or raise the contrast and brightness on your monitor.
