Yeah, I'm thinking what if razor edit will catch both items and comping areas?
If comping is on, of course!

Very awesome work devs with comping! I'm a bit out of the loop but a little thingy regarding visibility on V5 theme has changed. Cursor is literally invisible on high resolutions:
v6.8
V6.73+ pre
Since pre looks normal with licecap (which it is not how things actually look) here are pictures captured with Samsung S10:

Cheers!
EDIT: Sorry my bad it looks the same on v6.68 (I have different modifier on v6.68). But would be nice if contrast could be a little stronger on that cursor icon for V5 theme

I have no idea. But I was hoping for someone to sell me on "No. I need this"

Kenny has a point, obv. This is the only drag-comp-within-comp scenario I can come up with; there's no point to dragging 'bum note' horizontally, and if you wanted to duplicate any of these lane sections you wouldn't use comping. So a restriction on internal 'compound' comps going up or down only? (Apart from edge drag)

Yeah. I'm just hunting for other use cases. To me, if you want to move content (audio or midi) you would use razor editing or drag the item. If you want to move the area to comp, you would either trim it left or right or create a whole new one. I think.

Sounds good
Or if somehow we could "lock" the content in the comp area and move them together like a RE.

In edit mode, it's a bit difficult for the mouse to detect the media item buttons

Moving a region between other areas, duplicates the area

* Includes feature branch: GR metering as embedded UI for third-party VSTs
In the future, can we display GR in the mixer like other manufacturers?

Devs, is there any particular reason why we cannot move two comp-area edges simultaneously on the comp-track, as we are used to do with two adjacent media item edges?
IMO it's also a bit awkward that the various mouse functions only refer to the distance between the mouse pointer and the item/comp area edges. This is quite fiddly to work with.

^^ Yeah it makes sense and it would be nice to have the previous behavior too when dragging an area from the edge.

I think the fact is, it makes no difference as the comp areas don't overlap, ever. Two edges become one. I agree it looks funny.

Oh, it makes a difference!
I might want to find a good transition for my comp areas, grab the left comp area edge, drag it to the right, then realize the transition should be earlier, then have to grab the right comp area edge and drag it to the left because the transition point is further left than my starting point and I would create a gap otherwise. Also, maybe because of this friggin' system, I accidentally moved an element edge instead of a comp area edge and have to repeat the process after undoing it with ctrl+z.
It would be much more intuitive and less effort if I could just grab the transition point and drag back and forth until I found the right spot. Also, a mouse modifier like ctrl+dragup/dragdown would be useful to create crossfades. The left item is extended to the right, the right to the left. Perfect.
