Add stretch marker at cursor: edit vs. play cursor

I have 'Item: Add stretch marker at cursor' mapped to a keyboard shortcut.
Intention is to have a track playing and drop stretch markers 'live'.
Action stops working (doesn't add stretch markers) when play cursor is out of view on the right side of arrange (I have had auto-scroll disabled).

R6.66/Win10

Actually I noticed when play cursor is out of view, it drops a stretch marker at the edit cursor instead.
That's at least unexpected behaviour I would say, no?

sidenote:
If these kind of actions would specify 'edit cursor'/'play cursor' instead of just 'cursor' behaviour may be clearer.

create a custom action that does "View: Move edit cursor to play cursor" or "View: Go to play cursor/position" before inserting the stretch marker, that should take care of it?
