Default Mouse modifier: change edge action between items

Hi,

I'm trying to achieve this functionality:
If there are two media items next to each other: the edge action between them makes a crossfade centered around the edge.

The default action is that the edge of both clips move.

Is this possible? If not, could it be solved with reascript?

Thanks

Sounds like you just need to turn on crossfade from the main toolbar and drag one edge (not both).

Yes, thanks for answering. I know that's an option, but I still think it would be better to set the split point first, and then add a crossfade centered around that point.

I know reaper is a flexible application, so I thought I'd might as well ask.

Wait, you want to split the item and add a crossfade there automatically? That's in prefs/media item defaults.

But I think it's not quite clear what your question is.

Yeah, I guess I should have provided an example. It's really a subtle change. Dragging from the edge of a clip that has another clip next to it makes a crossfade. You can do this in reaper as well, but in protools, the fade is centred around the cut.

You probably have already, but don't forget to try different mouse modifiers. There are a bunch of behaviors possible for dragging the item edge/crossfade in preferences.
