Thanks guys.
And I think I'll use my Blacklist.

You have noted that the point of contention is "not music".
How dare he.

And the guy just lets loose like that, raw. Without even consulting the previous posts.
Where he could have seen that he was the only one to think like that.
I'm not saying that others never thought like that, but they kept it to themselves, because it doesn't help.

But I think he thinks that for the last ten years, the people who comment on my publications are all wrong and he is right.

Thanx for kindness.
Bye.

Sorry for posting in your thread and it not being about music! I'm gonna have a listen in a bit

It is really interesting how people would share some music\sound creation on forum, which is a platform for comments and discussion...
then if someone says\comments they do not like certain thing or aspect\element of such creation, even without having to explain why...
then it is considered 'not nice', 'problematic', etc.

It is an opinion. One of 9 (potential) billion.
Also, I comment from a constructive point of view.

I like "cinematic\atmospheric" music for movies\games, especially cartoon music (classic "Tom and Jerry") and those orchestrations are beyond perfection. I still have no idea how they managed to compose\record perform those.

Also I do realise that one man and a keyboard would rarely be able to make such cinematic music.

That is why, I think jeranx's shared music above is basic. Maybe the correct word to use is generic.

This is an area to post music and collaborate. Posting opinions is fine but its not your personal critique playground, and just denouncing something is enough now.

Bashing it as generic, similarly. You've made your point you dont like it.

Being nice is not 'carry on abusing someone's work'. Anyway, Im doing the same as you now, so I'll bow out.

I will give an example.
Seems it is the same guy jeranx (Thierry), but who knows.

Some cinematic music comeptition for action scene or whatever.
Absolutely inappropriate music for such scene.

It sounds as most of the other samples above. To me it seems jeranx has absolutely no idea what Music is all about (to match a movie scene).

Those strings and orchestrations sound more appropriate for a love romance, walking in the garden type of scene, by the sunset or whatever, a human contemplating the partner's temporary absence or such cheesy scenarios.

Now, go on and tell me I am wrong...

This is not the area to start bringing your weird conclusive arguments.

You really are just being horrible trying to argue in someone's thread that they dont understand music in anyway.

Thanks Max (and others) for the support.

But don't waste your time. I've already blacklisted him, and if all like-minded people did the same, he'd spew his "truth" into nothingness.
I see he is still arguing, but I am depriving myself of his good word.
I don't like to use this kind of tool, but I think it's made for people like him. No one will make him listen to reason. He is pure genius.

I go back to composing my non-music.

Default Ups and Downs

Hi Guys.

Long time I didn't upload anything.
Was doing research about what's musical and what isn't. 😉
I ended up with this.
Probably still not real music, but highly enjoyable to my taste.

I hope you'll enjoy too.

to me this is deliberately the sound of sorrow and or dread, a perfectly valid and musical expression, but I can't say I want to dwell in it for long because I have my own compositions for that which are of similar themes but not quite so musical or elegant....more like trench warfare (percussion, brown noise etc).
Actually I think this piece of yours is fine, I know nothing much about the instrument libraries you use, however it comes across to me as good as anything of a similar style I have heard by those scoring professionally for film/tv drama. Remember...some can't listen very well in isolation (without moving pictures)and need some additional media to sell the work to their ears....or so it would seem to me.
hope you are doin well

Hey Mick.

Long time.
Thanx for passing by.

Not really sadness, just a state of mind.
Aware of what's going on around him, and that he can't do much about it, except to put down some notes now and then.

I hope you're doing well on the other side too.

Hi Guys.

My last piece.
With the Cremona quartet and the Joshua Bell Violin, as is often the case these days.

With video of the project:

Or without, for those who want to avoid the distraction of images:

That's it. Bye.

Hi Phil.
Maybe your post took the wrong way.

I don't really mind, but it's "my" thread and if it's visibility your looking for, it might not be the best place, according to the fact that I didn't have a single comment the whole past year.

Bye.

Sounds like the impressionist style. I don't understand the context of the motif at 1min20sec which is reiterated elsewhere in the piece. Feeling the resolution anywhere with the tonic is confusing with some unusual choices of degrees. We can use borrowed chords but this piece makes it feel random in some parts. Maybe that's the idea of the title? Hors champs?
What I like is that it has a definite style and expressivity and could contextualize it in some cinematic scenes.

Hi, there.

I'd like to know enough about music theory to come up with a title that has as much to do with the reality of the song. But I'm not like that.
The thing is, composing purely by instinct, by feeling, I don't know how to compose in the way you'd expect. And words like resolution or degrees are completely foreign to me.

One definition I've been given of what I produce, and which seemed to fit, is: symphonic poem.
Just the word 'symphonic' seems a bit much to me. But it seems to fit.
You have to see it more as a narrative, with an evolution, and more or less a beginning and an end.
But I'm delighted that you like the general atmosphere.

Thank you.
Bye.

Learning harmony doesn't hurt. Every discipline, including sports, cooking and science has benefits in performance, taste and scope by studying its basic principles.

Maybe it takes more time, but the growth as an artist that comes with this effort is definitely worthwhile.

I can only agree with this idea.
Maybe I'm lazy, or don't have enough time left.

Maybe it's not as difficult as expected, but the question is "where to start", when you don't know a thing.
Instead of directly playing instruments in my DAW with little results.

Thanx for your advices anyway.

Where to start? There are countless of videos on YouTube for beginners to learn music theory and harmony. the videos are not that long either.
If you like making music and want to improve, time is not an issue!

Who knows, maybe someday I'll be blocked in creation, and courage will take it on my laziness.
