Default Trying to get back to mixing.

It's been months since I've done much musically, and I finally broke out of my slump when a friend, Peter Bowen, sent me some songs of his to listen to.

This was written by him. He usually writes Australian folk-ish songs and recently sent me a few to listen to (just voice and acoustic guitar). They were all good, but one stood out to me as needing a little electric-ness added. So I asked him if I could "produce" that particular one.

So Peter removed the acoustic and sent me a few more electric guitar parts and let me have at it.

Peter Bowen: Composer, Lead vocals, Electric guitars.
Me: Bass, Backing vocals, midi samples, and Mix.

All free plugins except for DMG's TrackComp and Kontakt.

This is what Peter originally sent:

I only have 3 guitars (acoustic, elec, and bass) and restrung them all hoping that might give me a kick to do some more music. So my bass is probably the worst part of the song (clicky) with those unbroken-in strings. Known issue.

Great work Sammy. Impressive overall performances and sound as well, everything sounds together and clear. It's a highly listenable track and that bit of bass string *noise* is fine imo.

Gtr solos are excellent too, again, not only what's being played but the sound is top drawer.

Am I right in opining there's still a couple of bars at 1.26 and again at 2.24 that could use some further electric soloing?

Great work as always.
The bass string rattle was a bit too much for me. There was also a clap sound that I didn't that much.
Other than that ... great!

I just meant that those lead gtr parts sound really good, and there was a bit of room [imo] for more of it at those points [1.26, 2.24] but of course, that's only a personal opinion about a very minor detail.

I too of course weigh up suggestions about my tracks, then decide whichever way, yay or nay. One suggestion I did take up coincidentally was yours about adding a piano track to my track "Uh Huh" [or whatever the title's gonna be] It's done now, I might repost it again soon bc I've remixed it a bunch of times. Cheers

Nice! Best for me are the vocal and bass. The bass gtr string noise has been mentioned but I have to say that the overall vibe of the bass makes me not care about that.

Vocal could come up.

The vocal volume was one of those "after posting" things that I noticed also. Thanks for confirming, Timothy.
