Thanks! But still seeing where a pin can get detached. I noticed when unpinning a window and if it causes a noticeable flicker (not seen in gif) then it seems like a sure sign that the pin will no longer be attached, so I move the window and the pin is indeed seen on window behind it. Hope that helps.

Win10(1909)

Works with Video, Media Explorer, FX browser but does not work with actions and floating FX, Dynamic split, Transient detection, probably all other popup windows.

Win7 x64.

Steps:
- focus floating fx or a popup window
- press alt
- press space

Result: This menu pops up in the top left corner of the active window.

This now works much better when moving or copying an item from flat tempos to linear ones.

However, there are still quite a few bugs in the auto-stretch timebase, which can be uncovered by simply applying the timebase and randomly moving/copying using different actions and mouse modifiers.

Two examples:

Dragging an item across a region with linear tempos and then back to the original position, results in SMs with slopes instead of their original values:

Doing and then undoing an action such as a simple movement directly after applying the auto-stretch timebase: The right-click menu still shows that the timebase is auto-stretch, but if the "Set timebase to auto-stretch" action is run again, REAPER forgets that the audio is already auto-stretched, and warps the audio (without the popup dialog window):

Here are a few more examples of bugs:

When rendering auto-stretched items with sloped SMs, timing is inaccurate if the SMs are spaced far apart. The same actually happens with manual SMs. Interestingly, however, manual SMs lose timing at towards the end of the stretch segment, whereas auto-SMs lose timing at the start. In this image, the auto-stretched item is on the left, and the manually stretch item is on the right. The rendered takes are at the bottom:

If there isn't a tempo marker precisely at the start of the item, the segment slopes are incorrectly interpolated:
