Default Adding tracks from template moves arrange view

Is there a way to avoid this?

Whenever I add a track from templates, the arrange view moves position and I lose focus of what I'm working on.

It's very distracting.

I've tried using the save and restore arrange view actions but I'm not getting good results.

Thanks,

To clarify,

When adding a track from template, it sends the arrange view to project start.

Anyone else finds this frustrating?

Hmmmm, it doesn't do that here (Win10, REAPER v6.23 x64).

I don't know of any setting that would make it act that way. Are you possibly running a background script or something? Maybe try a clean portable install without any extensions, etc,.. ?

Be sure to be zoomed in and away from project start when you test this. For some reason, different ways of opening the track template results in different arrange view behaviour but they all do some weird thing to the arrange view instead of just leaving it alone.

I just tested this with a brand new portable install 6.23 without importing any configuration and the issues are still there. I'm also on Windows 10.

OK, it happened once with a clean portable install of 6.23, I was near the end of project zoomed all the way and when track template loaded the arrange view seemed to shift horizontally to the left or something, but then was ok, and I couldn't reproduce it. If you know how to reproduce the behavior 100% then post those steps in bug report forum, hopefully devs take a look and fix.

It happens 100% of the time here when I use the "Open Template..." in the menus or when using the "Track: Insert track from template..." action.

When loading track templates, Reaper scrolls to the cursor. That's why it's a bit annoying to get it to reproduce correctly, since you often place the cursor in view prior to loading track templates, at least I do.

Try this to reproduce the bug.

1. Set cursor to start of project.
2. Scroll arrange view away from cursor.
3. Load track template.

Yes but I need the open template dialogue. Like I mentioned in my reply, it's easier to use the open template dialogue and type the first few letters of a track template and secondly, I use a Streamdeck to open specific track templates. So I need the dialogue for my multi-action macros to work.

Sorry to have spread this issue on multiple threads. We should definitely continu this discussion here :
