Default ELK / Aloha

elk audio OS (-> https://elk.audio/audio-os/ ) is a Linux based OS (i.e supposedly a kind of "distribution") tuned for low latency with audio software.

Among other goodies, they claim, very low latency and VST support.
It can run on a RasPI, but I seem to remember that there is a PC version, as well, but supposedly no drivers for "normal" audio I/O.

While elk seems to be a commercial product, it seems to be open source, as well -> https://www.synthtopia.com/content/2...-raspberry-pi/ , -> https://www.gearnews.de/elk-audio-os...te-entwickeln/ .
It seems to be interesting to see if elk and Reaper can work together.

Moreover, this company provides "aloha" ( https://alohabyelk.com/ ), a system for very low latency audio connectivity via Internet (5G under development). "A complete system of hardware and software for a lag free live experience over the internet." Seems like an interesting tool theses day, as well. Seemingly a "Hardware Interface" is necessary to use aloha. Supposedly something like a RASPI 4 + some audio board). -> https://www.gearnews.com/aloha-hits-...ing-a-reality/

On top of the price of the bridge, there also seems to be a monthly fee to be able to use it.

This does not seem to be able to be widely accepted.

I seem to remember that the "bridge" is based on RASPi hardware plus some dedicated/propriety audio interface.

Nonetheless it might be interesting to learn more about using the low latency "ELK" distribution with Reaper. E.g. to build versatile Audio / Midi gadgets.

ELK-Audio hosts mainly plugins but nearly realtime

together with recommended hardware (audio hats .. midi hats,... hats with knobs, you can have this from ELK) you have a little device

an interesting project is the neuralpi thing
https://github.com/GuitarML/NeuralPi running with an audio hat (berrybase dac-adc or dac-adc pro) and is controlled via network and a vst running on win or mac.

one o the next projects is the neuralpi thing as i got the hardware
pi400 and hifiberry dac-adcpro
