Still crashing out
Everything is fine and working I have one track with Q3 on it shoing and am able to control everything from the tablet,
I bring up learn mode and as soon as i touch anything on the tablet I get the lovely little message attached and everything goes to pot.
I've just tried a new FXzone, and I'm not seeing the crash so I guess it's that big ass Q3zone. hmmmmm maybe when Geoff gets modifiers to stck in zone it will work....at least i know I'm not going crazy.
Although learn zone doesn't seem to regester that the rotarys have an FX attached to them for me, learn mode just highlights the name of the control, but no links to a zone.

Could you please post the latest Q3 Zone and Raw FX files, so that I can try to find the crash ?
Thanks.

They're post 4950 on page 124, the C4 file has the zone and the FXzone.
I think it's because of the modifiers per Zone in a multi zone.

FaderPort 8 TUTORIAL HELP please
Hello guys, I wanted to configure the FaderPort 8 with the latest CSI and latest FP8 firmware .
Ok, I need help, I don't know why it does not wor.
First, what mode should I put the FP8 in? MCU, Logic, Sonar, Cubase, Midi, Hui???
Second, what options do you use when configuring the surface inside CSI.
On my side, I see nothing on all the little screen on the FP8. BLANK.
Only fader moves depending on the mode I load the FP8 at start.
Please someone help me with my device
tks

Just go to the first page of this thread -- then go to the first link --@MalcolmG's wiki -- there is a whole section on installation.

New build is up.
A lot more quotes around things in files, now that we gen much of it automatically we can allow things like spaces in Page or Surface names, .mst/.ost filenames, Folders, Alias, Parameters, etc.
Also cleaned up Learn Mode a bit -- might help with your problems with the FabFilter @Freex, give it a try and let me know what happens.

Cool, gotcha'
Learn Mode is near completion -- when it is complete there will be a video of how to use it for plugin mapping.

How's the modifier situation looking now? Can they be used in SubZones in FX maps?

Do you have a FADERPORT working solution
Hi MixMonkey, I have a faderport 8, do you have a working solution to control sends, plugins, etc already mapped, or could it be possible to have video tutorial on how to do all that even with difficult things to do.
tks

Crash bugs always take priority -- did you get a chance to check the new build ?
Do you still crash ?

I'd try MCU Logic, there doesn't seem to be a 'pure' MCU mode.

All that you need is in the download, but you have to ready to apply yourself. This is not a spoon-fed solution. You have to put the wrench hours in.
Read Malcom G's excellent Wiki, that will tell you how to set up the file and folder structure. There is a FP16.mst file in the download, that should work for your FP8.
I've tweaked the FP16.zon file from the download to produce a FP8.zon file, try that to get started.
Work to get basic fader,banking and displays working first before trying sends and FX.

I've had a chance to try the latest build out on Windows and can confirm Freex's crash is a Windows issue.
I get exactly the same runtime error when I open the learn window using my files as I do with his.
Other than that, everything seems normal (ie same as Mac)

What are the exact steps to get this crash?

Mine doesn't crashing on opening learn mode using the no action command, but crashes as soon as I touch a control.
My best guess (from my tests) is that it has something to do with, when a multi zone uses the same controls in derrent zones.
Doesn't crash with single zone fx.
Is that what you're seeing MixMonkey?

New build is up.
Might be a fix for @MixMonkey's issue.
Doubt that it is a fix for @Freex's issue.
Please let me know.

No joy I'm afraid. Still the same crash when opening the Learn window.
If it's any help, I stripped my CSI setup back to a single MCU, only had the two MCU files (.mst, .zon) in their proper folders in the CSI folder- no change. I'll try cutting down the MCU.zon file and see what happens.
EDIT: Cut the MCU.zon back to channels and pan, no sends, FX navigators etc- same result.

Sorry, should have said there was no need to do anything other than a go/no go test.
Here is that actual code that is executing:
Code:
void Page::OpenLearnModeWindow()
{
if(hwndLearn == nullptr)
{
hwndLearn = CreateDialog(g_hInst, MAKEINTRESOURCE(IDD_DIALOG_Learn), g_hwnd, dlgProcLearn);
DisableButtons();
ShowWindow(hwndLearn, true);
}
}
void Page::ToggleLearnMode()
{
OpenLearnModeWindow();
}
You can see that ToggleLearnWindow now just calls OpenLearnModeWindow, EXACTLY the same code called by the Action.
So we have exactly the same code called from different places doing different things -- guessing, but this is often indicative of a threading issue, the Action and the Window are on the same thread but the CSI call is on another thread -- like I say, just guessing.
There is an easy way around this -- just disallow it.
There will be no more ToggleLearnMode.
Since you can only use the Reaper Action to get there, we should at some point, code a Real Action that you can install to open the LearnMode Window -- until then hijacking 65535 will do...
Now, importantly once you have the Window open using the Action do the controls map properly, selecting from the lists correctly, like on Mac, or is there work to do here as well on Windows ?
Now you see why, bolstered by your Excel endeavours, I was avoiding UI

After opening the Learn window with no-op, I seem to have moved on to the same crash as Freex- as soon as I touch a control, it crashes.

OK Houston, we have a problem (it's actually "we've had a problem", says Swigert)
Sounds like I'll have to round the fellers, slide rules, triangular rulers, and T Squares and commence to cypherin'

Instant crash is gone Learn window recognises last touched control but doesn't show associated action.
FX maps don't display (do these need to be using the FocusedFXNavigator?, mine are all SelectedTrackNavigator)

It's a bit tricky, here's what I have:
SelectedTrackNavigator
AutoMap checked
Synch Zones checked -- not sure I need that one
Select a Track.
Your C4 should show mappings and be operational.
Open Learn Mode.
Move a control.
Mapping should be shown.

This works for me on Mac but nothing doing on Windows.
Also, I could be mistaken, but I think the FocusedFXNavigator got broken sometime since you sorted out the SelectedTrackNavigator. Can't seem to get it to work now.
This isn't a big deal for me, since I find the SelectedTrackNavigator and the FXMenu a much superior solution, but there may be others using it.

No time for a video unfortunately, but what have you got working so far, and what's the next bit you're trying to do? If you post what you have, I'm happy to try and suggest next steps to get you there.

What can the Encoder message generator handle ?
All the knobs on my Midi Fighter Twister can only produce relative data of the 3Fh/41h variant, while the Beastep can produce the 01h/7Fh variant too.
How do I tell the Encoder message generator what type of relative control it should expect ? I ask because there's no documentation that I could see, not even in the wiki.
