Default Midi Editor Window Question

Sometimes, when trying to right click marquee select items in the midi editor window, it doesn't select. When pressing Alt+A, it selects all items perfectly.

I've checked my preferences, and they're set on default which should allow me to edit.
I've also re-read the PDF manual which didn't help either.
I've been thru the midi editor window menu several times and found bukus.

Anyone else have this anomaly? Sometimes it works perfect.....
I don't know..I'm stumped.

Thanx to this great community!

I know what you mean, it happens to me a lot too. I think there are certain conditions that cause this to happen
although I don't know what they are.

One thing that drives me nuts though, when I start at the top just below the time line, right click lasso doesn't
work, nothing gets selected. It's pretty close to the time line though.

One possible cause may be MIDI channel selection. Check the channel dropdown at the bottom right of the MIDI editor: If a single channel is selected, only events in that active channel will be selected by marquee select and other mouse modifier actions.

Ctrl+A and most other actions from the Actions list will select all events, even in non-active channels. (To deselect events that are not in the active channel, keeping only those in the active channel, use the script "Deselect all MIDI except in active channel of active take" -- I have this script assigned to D so that I can easily deselect while editing.)
