Default MIDI/ReaSamlOmatic5000 Nitpicks

1. You can't directly drag and drop samples into the sampler. You should be able to drop directly in from Splice for example, without having to use the media explorer or importing from arrange.

2. Renaming an FX instance doesn't change the name of the corresponding MIDI note that a sample is mapped to. It's confusing when a sample has two different names, one in the sampler and one on the midi editor, so this should be changed so that an FX instance name on the sampler also updates the corresponding MIDI note it is mapped to and vice versa.

3.The "Hide unused rows" function does not work as it should. It hides all rows without MIDI data on them but I think it would be better if it only hid unused rows that also didn't have samples mapped to them. Right now if you have 2 instances of ReaSamlOmatic5000 on a track each mapped to a different MIDI note, unless you have already put midi information into the midi editor for those 2 MIDI notes, if you select hide unused rows it hides everything. Instead it should keep the rows that you have samples mapped to, that the user would be likely to want to access instead of actually hiding all unused rows. Maybe this would be a slightly different action.

Yes, would be great to keep note name regardless of sample name.

It is! It's called "View: Hide unused and unnamed note rows"

You are right. You can drag directly in from Splice. I was doing something incorrectly.

Thanks for letting me know about "View: Hide unused and unnamed note rows!" I don't know how I missed that.

So I assume this would address my last point about having the FX instance match the MIDI note name?

If you could elaborate on the steps you laid out so I could put that into practice that would be awesome. I'm not sure how to try out what you suggested.

Sorry I will explain

2.
I use Script: mpl_Add note into RS5k instance name on selected track for rename
RS5K instanses in MCP. After renaming name not change(if change sample)
With midi note name its same. I rename notes (save to note map file) and
after that note name not change

For slicing i use custom & load note names from file

No need to be sorry!

I'm still confused on how to set this up to be honest.

I see the script in the actions list but not sure how to apply it. Is it possible to simply apply this globally once so Reaper knows to consistently match MIDI not names to FX instances of RS5K? Is it necessary to save a note map file to make this happen? Would you mind listing how do to what you are explaining in separate steps?

I'm not quite sure what custom action this screenshot is pertaining to either.
