Interesting to see this thread still has some life. Now with the official Reaper V4 out, maybe the devs can turn their attention to this topic. Despite all the other great, new features in Reaper 4, I still maintain you'd hear applause around the globe if the white backgrounds could be altered.

To be fair it's hardly a feature is it. It will be nice when it's done but please don't work on this in preference to area selection and the like

I have done some work in this department today, and I can say that, with all absolute certainty, you will always have the white backgrounds. In fact, in the next build, you will always have white backgrounds, even if you change your Windows theme. I hope this pleases everybody!

You mean to say that in the next build white thingies will all be themeable but the default theme will still use white backgrounds???
Because if this is some kind of cruel joke I'll print my reaper licence and feed it to my dog! :P

v4.11pre4 - October 17 2011
+ Theme: various list/tree windows can now have their colors configured, separate theme elements for MIDI list editor
Problem solved?

(BTW I haven't noticed the white backgrounds myself, but I'll just have to accept that they must exist. To me it's kind of more important to get real, complete MIDI filtering first and if this white background BS gets attention over stuff that was even in cakewalk 'express' 10 years ago then I'll feed MY REAPER licence to my WORM FARM!)

Media Explorer is still white here (the right side)
and the track FX Chain list.
May I ask, if possible, for the Theme Editor to remember the last edited element when re-opened? (instead of opening always at the top of the list)

Note that if it's a professional dog (seeing-eye, narcotics detection etc.) you have to upgrade to a professional license first.

I think this is accomplished by a Windows theme and there are downsides to that. It is not a Reaper solution.
