do the world really need such exotic formats?
I personally don´t think so..
wavpack & flac are excellent, also compatible with XYZ hardware
and, meanwhile more then, widely used.

I don't know about the world, I do, especially for some legacy projects I have.

Just one tip refers to meta data:

if you want keep foreign metadata:

others then with wavpack,
flac need for both wav encode to flac & decode from flac to wav again
an additional command-line option.
"--keep-foreign-metadata"

otherwise the wav file itself would be maybe not the same as before(size)
You would simply loose all foreign meta data from wav files;
like for example loop points, descriptions, sampler info or whatever meta.
