From briefly checking out, this seems to replicate SWS Auto group (in takes mode), i.e. vertical auto grouping ? Yay.

If so, shouldn't in this case the rightmost items also be put into a new group ?

It doesn’t auto-group, it just auto-regroups any existing grouped items that are split (the sws option is still needed if you want them auto-grouped to begin with)

I realized that it doesn't replicate the full SWS auto group. (would be great if it would at some point though)
Yes, I had to manually group the first recorded items indeed to get it going.

But to come back to my gif:

Currently it seems to auto-regroup only if items are split at beginning and end, right ? (like it created the other three groups automatically)
That's why it doesn't auto-group the rightmost items in my last recording pass where only the beginning is split.
I'd find that useful if it could auto-group these items also.

edit:
Ok, scratch that blabla, reading your answer again, the explaination is actually given with "it doesn't auto-group". I see now why it doesn't group the rightmost (new) items, but maybe that's something that could be added ?

Anyway, nice addition (what concerns me), thanks.
