Default Create a send loop: MIDI send, Audio receive

I have noticed that you can't create an audio send loop in Reaper. If you send from track 1 to track 2, and then send from 2 to one, there will be no output.

I'm sure this is intentional, because you don't really want a feedback loop. However, I do want to send MIDI from 1 to 2, and then audio back from 2 to 1.

For example, if I have a drum synth with kick, snare, and hat, I might want to record my inputs separately, routing them all to one VSTi. But if I want separate outputs for these drum sounds, I might as well use the tracks i've already created, for input.

I don't see any risk in creating a MIDI-to-audio loop, but I still can't get a sound when I try this configuration. Is there any way to do this in Reaper?

There's a setting for that in Project Settings. "Allow feedback routing..."

Any track with an actual feedback loop basically has PDC defeated more or less like it was record armed, but that's only a problem if it's a problem.

Edit - I personally think it's a bad idea for what you're actually trying to do. Just use two tracks.
