Default How to convert midi items to sequencer blocks and back?

Hello,

I have drum beats in midi form and I would like to edit them in step sequencer. For example, Sonar has this feature made good.

How do I do that in Reaper?

For example, I have midi items on track, I add drum VST, then I add some Reaper's sequencer, one of those "babies" (gosh, their UI and color scheme reminds me brick-based arcade games from 80s)... and? How can I make so that I see the midi notes from midi items in those "babies"?

And the opposite - after I am done with the editing - how do I push my changes back to the midi items?

Or may be there is a better workflow?

Thank you in advance!
