Default Change Sampling Depth

How do I change the sampling depth?

My renders are coming in at 32 and I need them to be at 24.
Thanks

Render Bit Depth is just a setting in the Render window....

Change from 32 bit float to 24 bit and you should be OK.

Or have I misunderstood?

Scratch that. I'm not sure I changed the right setting.

Now my render sounds like garbage and it knocked the sample rate down to 22k.

Ah, that's mp3 kbps (kilobits per sec) rate, since it's set for mp3 output. Different than wav bit rate of 32 or 24. Two different things : ) 32 kbps is crazy low for an mp3 : )

For mp3 160 is considered ok for spoken word, low for music. 320 would be high-ish quality. 256 being somewhere between. And set it for slower encode if quality is a factor.

I rendered at 96kbps (mp3) and the sample rate came out to 44k. Does that sound right?
Confusing

Someone more technically inclined should pop in before I say something completely bogus, but the sample rate (44.1kHz, 48kHz, etc) is the same as the file was before it was converted to mp3. The mp3 conversion just passes that along as it was in wav or whatever format it's coming from. If you take a 44.1 wav and make two different mp3s, one converted at 96kbps and one at 280kbps they'll both read as 44.1 sample rate in their info. The latter will sound noticeably better than the former and the file size will be slightly bigger. The 44.1kHz and the 96kbps aren't related to each other.

Yes, confusing bunch of numbers : )
