Default Tip- Reaper load with Kaspersky - faster

It appears Kaspersky - at least the new version 2011 - likes to scan plug ins every time you open Reaper. To stop this change the settings for File Anti-Virus to scan on Execute only. See attached png

I use Kaspersky either, but I add Reaper and VSTPlugins directory in the exclusion zone. That way it KIS will stop monitoring those two folders and I can keep the same detection config for the rest of the computer.

Wouldn't this mean that if you imported (net, flashdrive etc) an infected file you would not catch it? I believe my approach would at least catch problems when the bad files try to execute?

It will catch because you would be copying from a source that is outside the exclusion zone (KIS would be monitoring the flash drive for example). I don't know about Kaspersky Anti-Virus, but Kaspersky Internet Security monitors the file being downloaded either.

By setting the scan mode to "On execution" you will be able to copy infected files to your computer because the DLL is only executed when loaded, not when copied, and as you are not scanning on access, you will only know they are infected after the DAW loads them.

Default I turn Kaspersky off when using Reaper

It threw one of my plug-ins into quarantine once.
