Default asio4all good for a netbook

i have an asus netbook (not a speedy one) and thinking about going with wave audio or installing asio4all.

is asio4all the best way for a slow windows 10 pc ?

I don't think you can say one or the other is always best. It depends on your particular hardware and drivers. (WaveOut is rather old.)

For playback, either one should work. If you are recording and/or doing real-time monitoring, you might need to experiment.

If you have an audio interface that includes true ASIO drivers, it's usually best to use ASIO (as long as you are using REAPER or another application that supports ASIO).

Here is some information about the various driver protocols.

I would try to go with the Wasapi driver (in Windows), instead of using Asio4All.

Just my two cents.

+1 for WASAPI. Performance can be quite good in Exclusive mode.

I have an old asus netbook running windows xp. Screen is 1024x600. Single core CPU at 1.6 GHz, onboard realtek sound. Reaper works ok on it with ASIO4All and some light vsti's. I can't do anything heavy on it, but its good for plugging in a midi keyboard and playing a single sound. YMMV.

Another +1 for WASAPI. Works much better than ASIO4All on my Aspire One.
