EDIT:
This is explained under the [Wildcard] button's "Wildcard Help" infobox. It's at the bottom of the list of wildcards.

"Immediately following a wildcard, character replacement statements may be specified:
<X> -- single character which is to be removed from the substituion. For example: $track< > removes all spaces from the track name, $track</><\> removes all slashes.
<abcdeX> -- multiple characters, abcde are all replaced with X. For example: <_.> replaces all underscores with periods, </\_> replaces all slashes with underscores. If > is specified as a source character, it must be listed first in the list."

+ Render: wildcards can have character substitions

Could somebody please give an example of how this works?

Thanks,
Mike

Slight improvement over 5.963, but Melodyne still acts incorrectly if you drag'n'drop-copy from one channel to another.

Example:
If you drag'n'drop-copy from track 6 to track 5, instance on track 6 will only show track 6 AND instance on track 5 will only show track 5. (Improvement from 5.963, but still incorrect.)
If you insert a completely fresh instance of Melodyne on track 5, both track 5 and 6 melodyne instances will show tracks 5 and 6. (behaviour as expected)

What does this mean in practice?

Hello, how does one use a pre-release without screwing things up? I am using a portable install now, and really want to try using Melodyne again with the new ARA2 support. What are the implications if I just download and replace?

If you want to keep your regular Reaper version, you're doing it the right way - have a portable install and import your usual configuration in it. You can test stuff out side by side with the "production version".

You can of course just replace your current install, but note that projects created with the prerelease version might contain data that "older" official versions cannot read. But you can just as well replace the prerelease with the older official version back, if you want. But in general, portable installs are a much cleaner solution.

Ok thanks. So if I am using a portable install now as my main production, would I just make a new folder REAPER2 (for instance) for the pre-release location?

excuse the dumb questions...

Yeah, you want to separate it from your original install.
