Default Controlling Aria Player mixer from Reaper Mixer

Hey all !

Before posting, I did extensive research and that only brought me partially close to my goal so I'm here searching for light from thee, the experts

I set up Aria Player (GPO4) as only 1 instance. I used the "create 16 child tracks" option and imported midi items into each track. When I play back every thing sounds as it should but when I try to do some mixing (adjust volume and pan for each instrument), I can only do it from the Aria Player mixer. The Reaper mixer does not seem to have any effect over the Aria Player instruments.

I found a couple posts with a similar problem. As mentioned, I read them throughly but I just could not get the problem corrected. My apologies if I am asking something that has already been solved before.

Thanks in advance !

If I understand correctly, you have created one track with ARIA Player on it and 16 tracks which send MIDI to the ARIA Player track.

If so, then there is no audio on those tracks and their Volume and Pan controls will have no effect. There is a feature to "Link Volume/Pan to a MIDI channel" but I have never got it to work . Right-click an empty part of the TCP and hover over "MIDI track controls" to see the choices.

Gracias Dark Star !

I did quite a few experiments following your lead (and more internet research). Still no positive results but the concepts seems to be slowly becoming more clear.

I'll keep working tomorrow but I did not want to hit the bed without thanking you.

I will let you know of my progress.

All the best !

Perhaps you could compress a simple problem project file (no audio samples needed) into a ZIP file and post it here as an attachment so that we can have a look at it and see what's (not) happening? Then we can give you more-focussed advice.

How to post attachments (in Post #1)

Hello DarkStar,

Seems like the problem is solved.

I followed the instructions from this video:

https://youtu.be/0F2yMO__KCk

I now have midi tracks that input to a single instance of the Aria Player which in turn outputs to different audio tracks with which I can control from Reaper's Mixer and add effects to.

Tomorrow I'll just make a 16 output clean project to save all those tracks as a template (I did a quick experiment on a 5 track template and it works like charm).

Thanks so much for your kind help !

Hello again DarkStar,

I have made a track template which:

1) Opens a mother track with Aria (32out) loaded.
2) Opens 16 midi input tracks each routed to an instrument slot of Aria. This tracks are only visible from the TCP.
3) Opens 16 audio tracks routed from each of the Aria slots. This tracks are only visible from the MCP. Here you can control volume, pan and add FX to each individual Aria slot.
4) Tracks are named and coloured so each TCP input track matches its corresponding MCP output track.

Once you insert this template, all you have to do is load the instruments you need in each Aria slot and start composing

Question is if it would be useful to share this template ? If so I would absolutely love to do it but I am not sure if it would work for other Reaper installations.

Could you please tell me if I should post my template ?

Thanks in advance !

That sounds good. Why not publish it? It may well be useful for others. And it should certainly work on other installations.

Yep, upload it to the Stash (https://stash.reaper.fm/) and put a link to it here.
