Free MAC Convolution Plugin
And it works great!
It's called HybridReverb2 and I can't believe it's freeware.
Check it out at..

hmmm, will have to check it out. I usually use Reaverb as my host and a bunch of Voxengo impulses. Always keen to see whats happening in impulse world.

Very simple and utilitarian with low latency.
Also, built using the Julian Storer Juce library.
Nice find.

Not working properly here on PPC Leopard. Install script error. No idea...

Hmm...that's a drag. I'm on a MAC/Intel w/Leopard and it installed fine. Much lower latency than Reaverb on my system. Also, looks like there's a nice IR library for download on his site.

Hmm... Removing an instance of HybridReverb2 from an FX chain causes Reaper 3.162pre2 to crash.
Report attached.
Emailed report to developer as well.

Hi,
I'm glad that you find my software usefull.
That some hosts crash when the plugin is unloaded is a known issue and I have to apologize that it's not yet fixed. Writing HybridReverb2 was really fun, but I have to focus on finishing my doctoral thesis now. As I'm using it myself for playing piano, I will further develop/support it, but not in the near future as I won't have the time for it. New versions will be announced in this KVR thread: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=267809
If someone else wants to do that, go ahead! The source code is available at http://www2.ika.rub.de/HybridReverb2/.
Ciao,
Christian
P.S.: One of the first things which I bought from my DC'09 cash prize was a Reaper license...

HybridReverb2 uses some Intel instructions (SSE) to accelerate the multiplication of audio segments in the frequency domain. That's why there's no PPC version. And as the old PPC Macs are probably not powerfull enough for a realtime convolution, there are no plans for a PPC version in the future.
Ciao,
Christian

Christian,
Thanks for the plugin and for adding your comments. Love the easy to understand gui and still plan on using it despite the crash bug.
And good luck with completing your thesis.

Christian, thanks for this plugin and congratulations on your prize at KVR. Those IR's you've made are very clean and the plug is so tweakable....this going to be useful. Also, I found the GUI especially well done, fun and easy to use.
Kinda wish you could make a little money on it so you'll be motivated to maintain it! So much of the software out of academia is unuseable - never gets finished or tested etc. (I really wish they had a Google "Summer of QA" for some of these projects, like CLAM...).
FYI, Hybrid2 works fine in Bidule, both standalone and hosted within an AU or VST Bidule in Reaper; no crashes on exit. Workaround for those that have Bidule.

I also tried to put a wrapper on this plugin to use it as AU and on scanning with VSTAU Manager, HybridReverb2.vst seemed to cause another crash.
But when working as a VST, it really does sound good.

Sorry to switch gears but...have you been able to rewire Bidule with Reaper? I gave up after many attempts. If you know how, please let me know.

Thanks and here's my results
Hi guys,
Thanks for the heads up about this convolution reverb.
I used it with some M7 Bricassti "large and Near" IR's I downloaded a while ago. I used one of the built in studio reverbs for the 'close' parts. The quality is quite amazing. Only problem is it won't save the settings with the reaper session. So you need to save as an .XML file externally and load it each time you open the session. (can't seem to get it to save presets in his list)
Here is a piece that I added the reverbs to:
http://www.hollands.com.au/R21Studios/Audio/2010_v3.mp3
The instruments are all Garritan GPO4 vsti.

No friend, I haven't. Did spend an hour or two chasing my tail. Could be operator error on my part, but I gave up.

Nice find. Plays very nice with Reaper and sounds great. It's a closed impulse library but still has some very sweet presets.
