Midi files from Reaper not compatible with other apps?
I've tried opening Reaper-created midi files in other programs and I either get an error message such as "unknown format" or the program just hangs (nice programming, Tracktion).
Is it the way I play, or do others have this problem?

What is only recorded can't be opened with anything here but Midget :
http://www.silverblade.co.uk/softwar...t/midget35.php
What is saved with the internal midi editor can be opened with everything I have tried.
Edit : Recorded midis can also be correctly opened with Modplug Tracker (that's new) but not with Jazz, Winamp, Windows Media Player, TS Midi Editor and Midi File Disassembler. Anvil Studio prompts for repairing the file but outputs something that is just not good. Loading and saving them with Midget or ModPlug Tracker makes them compatible with everything I have tried.

I'm able to open recorded MIDI files in FL Studio without trouble, but opening them in Reason gives an "unknown exception" error message.
I notice that REAPER ends the file at the end of the last note played, as opposed to where I stop recording. It would be good if the MIDI file was able to record blank space (time) as part of the file, just like the audio tracks.

Aha! Indeed, once saved in the editor, the midi file becomes recognisable in other apps. It would of course be handy if that step was not necessary.

Happy to say that both of these problems are now fixed in 0946. Thanks Justin.

Reaper midi files are still unopenable in other apps here (well, did get some luck out of Synthedit but all notes played back sustained). I kinda thought a midi file was a standard thing which would work on anything. Must be more to it than meets the eye.

"Windows media player encountered an unknown error" is what I get. Saving the file in the Reaper midi editor still fixes the problem. Why it should be different here I can't imagine.
