Default Auto punch in and out - comping

Hi all, does Reaper have a way to create a loop that is used for auto punching in and out? I want to be able to start playing before my take and just record a certain part. This would be handy for comping. I think a few DAWs have this ability so I'm really hoping that Reaper does.

Thank you in advance.

Try right clicking the record button on the transport for various recording modes.

You can separate the loop points and time selection on the ruler (they are synced by default), set the loop points wider than the time selection then auto punch record in the time selection

If it's several parts you want to re-record, try setting the record mode (when right-clicking the record button) to Auto-punch selected items.
