Thoughts on how Time Selection Auto-Punch should work with Fixed Lanes (I perform it manually):
1. Play Markers added at Time Selection (deleting existing markers within TS)
2. Item length be from Start of Record to End of Record (not just at TS as it is currently)
3. Punch-in area automatically made active upon stop
The problem with how Splits/Items worked is that when you did punch-ins, the entire take existed "behind" the splits, but it was never really possible to get to it without making a real mess of moving splits.
This would get us the entire recording pass, irrespective of Time Selection, but give us the Punch-In precisely at the Time Selection - just as it did with Splits/Takes.

Thank you for these improvements, deselecting markers now work fine.
This issue with razor-time modifier is still here
start with normal draging then activate ignore snapping modifier while draging (time selection gets offset)

"Item lanes: Play only lane under mouse, between play markers if any" on a modifier, only works with certain track sizes.
It seems that the "Add Area" region has to be visible (based on track size) for that action to operate.

SO MUCH YES TO THIS... Being able to have picture update with marquee/razor selection is SO imperative to my workflow. I'm so thankful you are implementing this...
That said.. I would love it if you could keep going with the responsiveness. Currently, I have a hotkey I press that simply links the edit cursor to the mouse cursor and the video response is very quick and snappy. The marquee/razor, not so much... See attached image below to see the difference. It would be amazing if the marquee could be as fast as my hot key hack.
Perhaps an option "Link Edit Cursor to Marquee Selection" might help speed things up?
Alternatively, is there a video engine recommend as being the fastest to respond? Perhaps I need to change my order priority?

Will ordinary daw users (outside of the scripting/specialist community) understand how to use this play marker system?
How about implementing a simple playlist system (yes like PT) before this? 🤷*♂️
I tried the new recording goes to soloed lane functionality, but when new recording that overlaps existing media items -> create new media items in fixed lanes was selected, it acted strange. I supposed the overlapped (underlying audio) should move down to a new or available lane? How should this behave?
In PT the existing media moves down. Hope for something like this in reaper when this is released.

Thank you for this. But its still not as smooth as how the video looks when making time selection. If it behaves exactly the same way..it will really help.
While we are at this, I have a request. Can you make the video seek while moving envelope points too ? Pls ?

Not sure how helpful this is, but I think it's what you're talking about. It's crying out for a custom action, I guess: I don't know how to make the lane change status stick between actions.
1. Deselect the "loop recording always adds new takes to newly recorded items" (thx Schwa). This will create separate overlapping items in the solo lane, not multi-take items, though you can just explode them in place if you do have this selected.
2. Select FIP for the track three times(!) - the 3rd time, the track displays all the items stacked. Autocolour here would be really helpful.
3. Select 'fixed lanes' for the track. All the items are now in their own lanes (apart from any partial overlaps, but the behaviour does make sense - these are in a single lane).
This works (hurrah!) for any further takes in the solo lane: the slightly awkward thing where new lanes are created at and below the last one doesn't happen.
[In case you forget to solo your record lane and get a bunch of stacked items in new lanes, select the (default) option "Loop recording - add recorded media to project on stop" and all the new items will be selected on stop. You can use the action to "Move item up a lane" on all your new takes at once).

Also, I'm not sure when this started (maybe the FX tweak in the last build), but some plugins don't seem to be respecting their bypass envelope.
In this example the cursor is at a position where the plugin (Brauer Motion) should be bypassed but it's active. After clicking around and opening the plugin a few times (GUI off screen) it starts working as expected.

Not sure how I've missed this:
Fade handling zone has changed since PRE 0526
Any version above it fade is handled anywhere on marker line (should be only top part of it). This prevents using razors etc

Appreciate this but..
This has caused a very big increase in response time (over dev0602) when repeatedly (automatically) seeking back to the same start position and then playing again by simply pressing play, waiting a few seconds, pressing stop (so it seeks back to the same start position) and then pressing play again.
I've set the video to go green on drop frames and in 602, it was maybe 100ms (very fast flash of green) and now it's up to seconds (might be the same for looping an area too, need to test).
Also. If there's anyway this can be optimised further to be instant that would be amazing! It's always longer the first time you seek to a new area but then if the repeated plays were instant (like they are for looping now) that would be amazing for my day to day work flow. Thanks!
I spent so long tweaking all the buffer settings and trying different decoders etc to get it from about a second or so (like it's back to now) down to milliseconds and would be devastated if it stayed like this (also, for some reason FFmpeg is best for me with the videos I capture from games in bandicam instead of the new one you added recently, weird..)

Btw option "envelope points follow time selection" is not working good with new razor-time modifier (it deselects points on release). Not sure if a problem or works as expected, just found out while testing some options (bug hunting)
Was wondering is there some limitation or reason why region lane does not have context menu (actual marked has) but only add lane (since cursor is aware of that zone for inserting markers)? Was thinking of having option in context menu "Item lanes: Set loop points to lane play markers" (to have less shortcuts to deal with) but then it would require for user to always target add lane area (if user is interested in top or middle lanes). It could be the same context menu as current one, but I assume there is some technical limitation thats why its only in add lane area.

By the way if we are talking about performance...
There always was less video performance (wich marked as a green screen) on big zoom amount while playing. Maybe it related with scrolling in arrange.
But for ADR editing I prefer to have good video response even it produce arrange updating lag.
So video performance improvements or option to have video priority would very appreciated!

I'm on a gig and unfortunately can't test this now, but i have suggested on previous prereleases that I would be great if we had + and - symbols below each lane number to add or remove. There's so much empty space there that could be filled with these symbols and it would feel better and more connected to fixed lanes if we could use them from there instead of a menu which could be docked anywhere, or to assign more keys for these actions.

Rearranging and naming also, especially once the "commit comp" stuff comes to full functionality.
