Default Hiding x86 plugins on a W10 64 bit system

Is there a way or method to hide x86 plugins from the FX browser? I've read a couple of threads on here but they descended into squabbles.

If I decided to do a fresh install/some spring cleaning would project files have to be pointed to the new plugin locations?

Thanks in advance

1 Make sure you don't install them
2 Install them into a different folder hierarchy and do not include that folder in the VST paths
3 In the FX Browser, edit the name to add a leading # and de4slect that Show option in the FX Browser context menu.

You may run into problems (solvable, often by editing the project file to change the plug-in name) if your projects are currently using the 32-bit plug-ins.

And, no squabbling yet

I play goalie in ice hockey and tips 1 and 2 are the DAW equivalent of getting onto the ice and realising your jock is still in your bag.

Will try #3, but I reckon I'm gonna do a fresh install and be tidy when i re-install my plugins.

Can also do this:
Reaper Preferences - Plugins Page
Only Show FX matching filter string:
NOT ( (x86) )

add that NOT line, including those spaces.

Projects will find the plugins anywhere as long as the folder is defined in the VST path.
Even the NOT plugins are available to projects, just not displayed in the FX browser.

or go find your x86 plugins where installed and add to the file name like so:

name.dll.OFF

the .OFF will leave them there but they will be be seen as a plugin [.dll]

On a similar note, how can I specify plugins from certain make to be only that of 64bit VST3 ? I want to be able to add Waves Shell folders for my search list, and specify that I only want them to be 64bit VST3s .

I get a lot better control of plugins by doing this:

Make three [or more] folders on the drive where you will have the dll's
like so:
@VST 3
@VST 32
@VST 64

now when you install carefully point to the proper folder for each type of dll...

it makes it easy later to go and either delete or rename certain dll's so they don't show

it also makes it easier to set the vst scan paths in reaper pref's

NOTE: the @ character is just to force the folders to the top of the list view making it fast to get to them
