Oh, that ordering by priority is a rather... clever way to do it

Tested with a few plugins (Surge XT, Odin2, Vital, some Full Bucket ones) and this works now. Unfortunately, what doesn't work now is if you want to save a preset with a space in the name, the space so to say passes through and starts playback One way around this is to temporarily enable "send all keyboard input to plugin". Is this an either/or situation now, or rather, is there any way to know that a text input field is active?

Tried Surge XT -- it doesn't use a proper text field, so guess not. Alternative: shift+space to enter a space character.

Regarding refining duplicates: I'll see stuff like this from a few different developers where the only difference is that the VST version shows the channel count in the name of the VST2 versions. Would be great if there was a smart way Reaper could clean those up and recognize as duplicates.
There are instances where it may be relevant information, like UAD plugins with their mono instances, but I'm thinking the logic could be something like:
"In the browser, don't display the channel count for VST2 version of the plugin if there's only one VST2 version of the plugin, THEN if another plugin format exists with same name, obey duplicate rules..."
See below:
