Default Random questions of annoying things

Thank you all... This is where I will be putting many things that are bothering me but I am sure they have a solution....

Right now I remember these two:

How can i disable that when I drag an item content that is inside a time selection it will cut and move?

How can I keep the I/O window open when I click outside of that window?? (This is so annoying)

thanks alot

Options -> Preferences -> General -> Advanced UI/system tweaks... (button at the bottom of this page) -> Allow track envelope/routing window to stay open

You are sure this happens without any mouse modifier? If so - have a look at the mouse modifier tab in the Preferences, there's something fishy

Actually, it is a modifier. For your desired action, it should be:
Options/Preferences/Mouse Modifiers/Media Item/Left Drag/Default action: Move item ignoring time selection.

OK ... how bout this one ...

Stop the mouse-WHEEL from changing the PAN in the TCP, without stopping other functions. [many cause the PAN is located in a traffic zone] :|

Preferences > Editing Behavior > Mouse
[ ] Ignore mousewheel on track panel faders

It affects volume and pan.

Here's one:

Naturally the display elements of the GUI in Reaper (as in any good app) get last priority. All well and good and expected. This means if you are a little too quick with the mouse (or trackpad), something might get missed. (ie. There is no 'type ahead buffer' for the keyboard/mouse input.) This means that every now and then if you go to scroll a volume fader or pan a little too quickly, the GUI 'pauses' when something else gets too busy in the middle of your scroll motion. When it gets back to you (as you are still in motion scrolling), if your mouse drifts just a little bit while scrolling the wheel, Reaper forgets or moves on from the scroll and now interprets it as scrolling the whole MCP. Whoosh! The fader you were just trying to adjust flies away from under the mouse.

Aside:
I remember Protools HD v5 thru 7 had a killer 'type ahead buffer' for the keyboard/mouse input. You could drag the thing around like a cat on a leash and it didn't miss a single thing. This broke in v8 & 9. Not 'broke' broke. Just not as solid and actually the behavior is EXACTLY like where Reaper is at with this currently.

I'm well aware that input managing is handled by the DAW itself and NOT done with OS calls like almost every other app you might run. And I believe all DAWs are written this way. So what the heck happened a few years ago that made this suddenly impossible to do as well as in the past?

Just to be clear, this is really nitpicky. Reaper is extremely responsive. But this functionality was perfect a few years ago and now with much faster computers there are a couple of cracks forming. What happened?!

One thing that really really annoys my is the focus of the windows....

I always hit Esc to close the opened windows but a lot of time it won't close because it is out of focus....and I have to reach the mouse to put the goddamn window oo focus and then close, ... or close it with the mouse..

That is just one example that I remember right now....

But I know that I get interrupted a lot by un-focused windows not reacting..

I don't know, this could be better

I've mapped a function key (f3) to the 'toggle show all floating windows' action. Now I can just keep hit f3 to make all the windows appear/disappear. Fits my workflow, maybe of use to you...
