Everything working fine the last days. Thanks again Dopp!
I have a small suggestion again, would like to know what you think about it.
Right now you can color hardware outputs and sends differently, to be able to distinguish them easily. Thats already great.
Now in a DAW there are different scenarios where you can use sends:
1) Sends to verbs/delays/effects in general
2) Sends to cue mixes, e.g. headphone mixes for artists
3) Tracks which aren't in folders and/or are routed to different parent tracks
...
etc.
So it would be a great addition to be able to customize the send colors.
When looking at the sends of a track you'd immediately see e.g.:
Send No.1 is blue so it goes to a verb/delay
Send No.2 is green so it goes to a headphone mix of your artist
Send No.3 is is red so it is routed to a completely different track for parallel processing
In addition to the default color for sends there could be another 4 custom send colors, which you could then set by "right-click on the send" -> "apply custom color No. 3".
You could set them up once for your project template and you're good to go

I'm on

As for the db range I think -30db to +12db is perfect.

Note: REAPER 5.95+ is required.
1) Download file for your OS: windows x64, macos x64, linux x64 and place it into UserPlugins folder. (to find UserPlugins folder, goto Options->Show REAPER resource/path in explorer/finder..)
2) Find "Show fxlist window" in Actions list, run it, right-click popped-up window and select "Dock", dock it to left side along TCP. It's ready for use.
================================================== =========================================
Effects: Column for managing effects on tracks. Effects_list_example.
Favourites..: Custom multi-level context menu for effects. Guide-HowTo. Favourites_example_gif.
Note: Sum of latencies of effects in total tooltip may differ from track's total latency.
Note: Don't invoke total tooltip during playback/recording, it can be intensive on CPU, use only in idle state.
Windows(MacOS only):
leftMB on empty cell to open fx browser.
leftMB on fx to show/hide float fx window.
drag leftMB on fx to copy/move single or multiple fx.
ctrl+leftMB(cmd+MB) to show fx chain window.
shift+leftMB to bypass single or multiple fx.
ctrl+shift+leftMB(cmd+shift+MB) to turn online/offline single or multiple fx.

ctrl+shift+drag MB(cmd+shift+drag MB) to adjust only one send vol parm, if multiple selected
mousewheel to scroll view.
Loudness Meter:
If you want to use this feature, TBProAudio's dpMeter 4 (4.1.0+)(VST2/VST3) should be installed.
When marked, dpMeter plugin gets added to monitoring FX chain and shows EBU R 128 values:
top number: Integrated loudness (or TPLR);
left number: True peak max;
right number: Loudness range.
Note: dpMeter plugin is CPU-intensive.
LeftMB on meter's display to reset dpMeter parameters.
ctrl+leftMB(cmd+MB) to open monitoring fx chain window.
RightMB(control+MB) to show fxlist options menu.
middleMB(cmd+control+MB) to close all opened fx windows.
GR/Wet: GR_Wet_example
Shows approximate gain reduction meter (only up to -10dB) or wet parameter knob respectively.
Note: Keep in mind, GR in fxlist updates less often than effects (e.g. ReaComp), so values are not precise,
usually they show smaller reduction, but atleast it gives approximate picture of what's going on.
Note: GR +text mode is not recommended, it is the same as Gain Reduction mode, but also shows max values in short period of time in numeric form.

What a lovely extension. I always mix in the MCP view but this beauty made it so easy (and addicting) to stay in the TCP view from start to finish.

Hi, would it be possible to add the possibility to set different FONT colors for different FX types and states (e.g. not only background but also separted font colors selection for bypassed, jsfx, vsti, etc.)
thanks

Hi doppelganger,
At the risk of being a total PITA, I return to my wish for improved font rendering, perhaps you have had a chance to look into it further?
I realize this is a general problem (or rather limitation) not only for this script, but others as well, and I'd like to try to push for a solution, if possible.
As for fxlist, if there's anything I can do to help you check with my system here, or a technical request I can bring forward to the Reaper Dev team, then I will be happy to do so!

Just a quick thank you to Doppelganger
I have been using a Reaper for a year mainly to write songs and have done very little in terms of themes or layouts (just minor stuff like a few toolbar buttons). Then this got posted on Facebook today in the Reaper Users Group and it's something i didn't think i need until i installed and now i've gotten rid of the MCP which is great for me as a songwriting as it means i can see more tracks at one which helps me see where parts are coming in and out etc. I put everything on their own track to help with switching things out etc.
So anyway...a long and winding. Thank you.

Just started using this! It's amazing! I've never used protools (came to Reaper from Cubase) but this is a really needed feature!
Thank you so much doppelganger!
If you're looking for new stuff to add, then scalable FX slots (so that you always see all the FX you have, even when the track is smaller), would be great!
Thanks again!

Not really the same thing but I had a similar request where I wanted to see all fx for a track. He made this:
DOPP: Expand track height to fit effects
it's in your action list if you weren't aware of it. I just have that and a minimize tcp script in toolbar and I love it.

Doppleganger, thank you so much for this terrific function! I spend nearly all of my time in the track view and lately was bumming out at how much time I was spending dealing with how the fx chain window fights me a bit, which is easily dealt with in mix view by working directly from the fx inserts. So I've been going between toggling to the mix view just to manage fx and doing the extra clicks and window opening and closing in track view. Coming across this has been a great thing!!!

So I've started up the script, I get a window, however even if I click on any track it doesn't show anything except a black screen (see attachment). I noticed that if I re-size the window quickly I can see some text at the bottom edge, probably the name of one of the effects, but it doesn't stay in sight, and I still end up with a black screen.
Am I doing something wrong here? I have Visual C++ 2015-2019 and 2017 installed.

OK ignore, this one, I tried docking it, but it went to the main toolbar at the top and I couldn't figure out how to move it to the side...now that I've managed to move it and dock it correctly, it now works !

Hey Doppelganger!
I just updated fxlist and I'm glad to see you continued to improve this already amazing script!
First, it fixed my problem with monitoring FX pin while using the Loudness Meter option: awesome!
Second, I really like the new action "expand track height to fit FX chain".
Third, did I say that I LOVE this script?
I have 1 bug report and 2 questions.
The bug:
It's not new because I was never able to do that but the scroll function is not working on my system: MacOS Mojave with an Apple Magic Mouse.
I usually expand the TCP height to be able to see the last FXs in a long FX chain but it will be better for sure to be able to scroll.
Question 1:
I'm not sure to understand what the Generate dVol option do. Nothing happens when I click on it.
Question 2:
I searched in this thread but didn't find anything about the new Tag feature (btw the video exemple is unavailable). It seems promising but I can't get my head around it.
Could you by any chance develop a little bit what is the purpose of it?
PS: Are we still not able to make a donation for you?
I want justice to be restored!

Yeah the track arrangement scrolling is working perfectly, I just took it for granted but it's not haha!

The problem is that, i feel fxlist is already crowded enough with knobs, send sliders, colors, selection markers and other crap, not sure i want to add 2 more elements on top. Adding buttons up/down will suck, not adding anything also will suck, because you need to know, is fxchain list is scrolled or not, adding just arrow indicators and mouse scroll modificator is probably the best option, but it stll will make gui more crowded, which i don't like, so i'm kinda 50/50 on this feature, i'll add in todo list to better days. I usually just use PageDown/PageUp to zoom in/out tracks and i'm good. Maybe you have better ideas?
|
Mmh I get your point, I have to admit it never crossed my mind that the user should KNOW if the FX chain have been scrolled or not.
I'm with you, the interface is so sleek right now I can't imagine some arrows or new feedback buttons in the way.
Maybe one solution will be to color in evident tint (red i.e) the wet knob of the first and last FX in the FX chain so the user know if the fx chain is entirely displayed or not. I guess the issue is that the wet knob is an option not everyone have turned on

I see the dVol JSFX but when adding it into an FX chain it don't update its color upon whatever how crazy I try to clip the signal! Did I miss something?

When i had big projects, i usually had up to 5-8 folders in them, i applied a tags to folders and blacklisted some shown/hidden tracks and was switching between them, hiding/showing folders. It makes smoother scrolling/movement in a big project, as reaper renders only needed folders and blacklisted tracks, other folders and blacklisted tracks stay hidden.

Nice!! I get it know and it's an efficient system!
One thing I wish it did though is to be saved with the project itself instead of having to manually save & load the state.
Maybe using projExtState?
Cheers!

Mmh actually I'm not sure because the actual system is perfect to be used with project templates
(Because loading a project template is like opening an unsaved project, so projExtState is not possible there).

No chance on my side.

I tried to duplicate the JSFX and rename it dVol as yours in case the association between fxlist and dVol was made by the string name but it didn't change anything neither.

Wow! Thanks you! That was fast!
I have a suggestion, it's a small things but can be handy:
If we had an action to reset the metering we could create a custom action and call the native peak reset + this one at the same time.
What do you think?

Sorry I wasn't clear.
By default Reaper have an action called "View: Clear all peak indicators" to reset the peak readouts on every tracks, including the master track.
In fxlist, the metering (coming from dpMeter4) is reset when switching from a stopped or paused play_state to a play or record play_state, if I'm correct.
I was just thinking if we had an action to manually clear the metering indicators of fxlist we would be able to combine both in a custom action and thereby we would have a stronger integration of fxlist in Reaper.
Just an idea.
:-)

Oh I wasn't exactly talking about that but it's also a nice small feature!
I was referring to the loudness meter at the top of the fxlist window (see sceenshot below):

Is there anyway to set it up to show only the effects list from the selected track ?
A lot of bass sound design (Neuros, Reeses etc) can have a huge list of effects layered up.

Hi!
Thanks a lot for this extension! It is REALLY useful!
And here are some thoughts about future development:
1) Action to expand track view for one track only (for all tracks it is easy to do custom action);
1a) Expand track view to fit effects view AND/OR sends-receives view (sometimes quantity of sends is larger than quantity of effects);
1b) May be there is a way to make this action undoable to return to previous track(s) height;
2) Option to monitor short term loudness (big digits);
3) By default when activating loudness meter, it appears at the end of monitoring fx chain. If you already have eq or level adjustments in monitoring fx, loudness measurments will be incorrect. Is there a way to insert loudness meter in the begining of mon fx?
4) TBaudio also have "tini EBU128 meter" js plugin which is more cpu friendly i think (but it shows only one of selected measurment (IL, SL, ML, TP, LR). May be it will be easier to use it

Hey Doppelganger!
I had a vision this morning.
The base statement is that FXlist allow us to get rid of the (terrible) FX chain window for track (and I'm so grateful for that) but we still have to see the fellow FX chain window for take FX.
WHAT IF when we push let's say "ctrl" (cmd for mac) the track FX chain of the first selected item parent track switch to display the active take FX chain instead?
We could also bypass, re-order, open fx floating window exactly as track FX chain as long as we are still holding the "triggering key".
Why not also be able to copy/cut/paste FX from/to other track FX chain.
Could be a killer new feature for fxlist!
Also I see you finally have a "Donation" button!
Everyone, let's flood Doppelganger with money!!

Can you confirm you received my donation?
The process ended with a white webpage so I'm not sure the process went through

A few smaller suggestions:
1 - I often use the rename feature for plugin (i.e to distinguish 2 same EQs plugin, one is constant and the other is automated and only used for EQ match another take). Right now we need to open the FX chain window to do that, it would be cool to be able to rename plugin instance via the right click context menu in fxlist.
2 - I would love to see an action to toggle the routing window. I find it sleeker without but sometimes it's very handy to see the track routing so the ability to trigger it via a key shortcut will be nice.
3 - The tag window (track group) is a little bit small so the group ID is partially hidden (at least on Mac), see the screenshot below. Would it be easy to expand a tad the window or lowering a bit the tag fonts?

Oops didn't saw your last post!
Wow you did it, your script is so inspiring it's gonna be part of the native Reaper, congrats!
However I have the feeling it could be less fulfilled with killer features like tag, loudness metering, routing view, or even sexy aspect!
Maybe I'm wrong but I could still use fxlist for a bit!
I'm looking forward to hear about your future ideas!
Take care!

Have you seen pre-release section? Native fxlist is in development.
I saw it today and thinking about abandoning this thread, don't want to put effort into not relevant thing.
I have a better idea about take fx chain, I have in progress few kinda interesting features and after that, i could try to do similar thing with take fx, but time will tell, will it be needed here on forum at all or i will just ditch this and move on)

thing is, i dont know if it's better. To have the list on the left SIDE is actually really cool. That's not how the current list works. There are advantages, too but it's not the same.
