Default Combine two mono tracks to Stereo without rendering (like Pro Tools)

Hi

Asking the question for a colleague who works in Post a lot, and wonders if there's a way to make Reaper do what Pro Tools does when you get a stereo music track delivered as two monos.

He says you can just move the two monos onto a single stereo track and they automatically pan left and right, and become effectively one item as far as editing is concerned etc.

What's the most elegant way to replicate this in Reaper (without rendering)?

Thanks
Andy

One could use the action Xenakios/SWS: Implode items to takes and pan symmetrically for the selected items. Items are imploded to takes on higher of the two tracks and panning has to be centered if it was not before. How close takes are to being one item when editing might be another issue.

I can try that when I'm back at my Reaper computer, thanks.

Any other suggestions from PT users/Audio Post people are welcome.

Cheers
