Default New Default 4.0 theme Modification v3

Hey

A slight modification for the new default theme: (Here you go Jason and a big cheers to WT and the themes team )
Happy new Year!!!

A little update- More matching colors and contrast.

Link: https://stash.reaper.fm/theme/692/Jan...ReaperThemeZip

The only thing in question at the moment are the buttons for fx and i/o and the toolbar buttons.

Nice tweak! I still want to see what White Tie does for the final release, and while this still has some of the same issues, it's definitely an improvement over the current version. Good work.

A noticeable improvement over WT's dec30 theme (more contrast + black VU meter backgrounds + opaque faders = WIN), but there are still a lot of elements with green, white or grey text on a grey background.

Thanks heaps for your efforts here

I love how clear the items are in V2 of this one. A nice variation on the Theme Teams efforts.

Cheers

one stupid question, how do you do to change background media file color at the same time with waveform color?
i always get only the waveform color changes…

Preferences/Appearance/Media You have tinting options for waveforms and media item background and also the strength of the tint.

Another update in the works.I tried to match the track id and transport colors:

I was also thinking about the fx and i/o buttons to be in a similar style( or the style of the mute and solo butons). The grey ones are hard to read.
Please give some thoughts about the I/o buttons.

regards J

Looks good so far! I think there needs to be more contrast in these areas:

The dark greys should be more like the track name background or something, just a lot darker overall to make the text clearer and make the theme look a little less hazy and more defined.

I agree.the light text on grey is hard to read.

Were you thinking something along these lines?

Comparing to the old theme I think the old one is much clearer and generally nicer in this regard still, even compared to the ones you and I are mocking up now :/...

I could try to add the old def4 buttons in it.
I wasnt mocking Im actually making the pngs and making screenshots of reaper.
There are so much options its hard to decide.Ill have to experiment a bit more :P

Yeah sorry I knew you were doing it properly while I am just sitting around in Pixelmator mocking stuff up, didn't mean to imply that, hehe...

I don't know if the old buttons will look nice with the new overall theme to be honest. I think they work best with the more green tracks instead of the grey (I like grey though, I want my workspace to be relatively neutral). I think what you have going is a step in the right direction with the current theme, I'm sure with this thread we can all come up with something that looks great! Thanks for doing the work on this man!

No problem
Yup youre right the grey is more neutral. And also the old buttons dont fit in.

On the other hand im not really too much bothered by the default new buttons. It bothers me more if they stick out too much- i like that with Logic-its buttons are not annoying to the eye.
I was reading the complaints about the buttons on the forum and if I decide to share the theme I try to follow wishes of other participants here. But its impossible to please everyone.

Ill try to work on the darker VU meter like option to see how it works out.
Maybe the Theme team will come with some solution even before that

Oh yes and I must say that your Beat detective script is a winner. It has saved me many hours of work and grumping with Logics flex.

Just testing a variation here...
What if the track background is a bit darker, so that the lighter gray elements stand out a bit more?

The unity does suffer whit this adjustment though.

That would be a posibility for a darker version of theme. But to keep the unity all of the knobs and fader background would have to be set to the same darker color.

I think this version looks nice.It looks better if elements have the same colour and depth.
Althou if you darken the Track title bckgrnd the color tint doesnt have such an impact. The default one is perfect.

Almost everything in the old one was much better, especially the fonts/icons. The new lowercase fonts (e.g. 'i o') don't have that professional touch (they look cheesy).

@Janne83: Don't forget to fix the low-contrast colors of the BPM (tempo) and time signature indicators.

The transport buttons have too much green. Grey buttons with a brushed metal texture (png) would be perfect (I think I saw something like that in one of schwa's LICEcaps).

I actually like the greenish transport buttons because they differ from the background color..But tastes differ

As for the bpm backgrnd it will be darker and the text will be more visible.

I will be updating more in detail in the near future but today is my last day off and working days are calling. time to record some music and do some post production again(but unfortunately in Logic)

As for the time being ill leave the silver buttons as they were in default.( i have darker ones(the VU back color) in preparation though.
