VSTi-plugin synth

Hi all,
I'm searching for a affordable vsti-synth. It should be have different of sounds.
I have tried a lot of free ones. But most of them are only fancy edm, fx and not really useful sounds for me.
I need the synth for my songwriting (rock, metal, nu metal, etc.) with some parts of synth.

NI (https://tinyurl.com/y9bxywyb) have a lot of them. But unfortunately every plugin is only for one special sound. And the are not really affordable for me :-)
I'm searching for one vst with different sounds and characters.

Any recommendations?

1. DEXED is a free Yamaha DX7 emulation, which can be really nice when you're into that sort of thing.

You do have to figure out how to install sound banks though. Not terribly tricky, but it's best to do some searching on how to do it.

Personally I like the Podolski and the TyrellN6 (this one can be a bit CPU-hungry though).

I listed as many free ones that came to mind so you can try out a lot of different ones without committing to them financially. Just experiment and see what works best for your songwriting!

I went through a similar search, looking for a broad range of sounds. What I wound up with, and like a LOT, is Arturia's Analog Lab 3. It's not on sale at the moment, so $149 might be a bit steep for you. Even a full price, I think it's worth the money.

You get patches from every Arturia synth, and each one has a few well-chosen parameters that are modifiable and mappable.

If you're wanting to MAKE sounds and not design sounds, Analog Lab is really hard to beat.

The standalone version is good for songwriting. Also comes as VST2 and VST3.

The browser is EXCELLENT!

Synthmaster is currently $59. I'm of the opinion that it's complex, so I haven't spent much time with it, but it certainly does have a lot of flexibility and presets.

I would definitely spend time going over more free ones that come onto your radar, and when you've heard enough decent ones you'll have a better Idea of which way to go for spending on a not-free one or two.

Like Couchz, I check vst4free once in a while and it's very worth it, if only to find a good one occasionally and get an idea of where to set your expectations for freebies. The venerable www.kvraudio.com not only posts new free plugins but has maybe the best searchable database for VSTIs. https://www.kvraudio.com/plugins/instruments/newest You can search for free ones and then paid VSTIs under $20 or any amount to avoid the ones out of budget range.

I get a lot of use out of Synthmaster. The Player version is only a handful of bucks when on sale, and has a small set of editable functions. The full version has a full range of features. But it sounds good, especially for the $10 or $15. Many presets, editable, many useful. http://www.synthmaster.com

One thing to consider is to download all of the free versions of plugins like UVIWorkstation, which, in their full version may be a few hundred dollars and have loads of sounds. But their free teaser versions often have a few excellent sounds among the limited handful given. I have the free UVIWorkstation, and there's a free extra bank of the Roland AP-09 "piano" that I love and use all the time for that '70s Todd Rundgen vibe that I haven't found elsewhere.

Oatmeal is also great, but I don't know where fuzzpilz website went. I had to source this from elsewhere, so maybe run a virus scanner over it just in case. I'd recommend picking a different skin than the default one

After long research and hard to invest in some great sounds I have bought this plugin.
Why?
The sounds are awesome and a lot of them I can use it for my projects.
The little tweaks you can do here is pretty enough for me. I don't want to tweak thousands of parameters.
