Default Darker Side - My First Song Rebooted

Hi all,

In December 2013 I wrote my first half decent song "Darker Side". I had a real drum recording I made many years ago laying around and retracked the song. I'm interested in how this stacks up after all that time.

Very classic Savatage (or early Ratt?) - I think the crunch rhythm guitars can come up a bit, and the clean guitars are a bit loud. The drums sound great, love the vocal harmonies.

Let's hear some more of these! Anything up on YouTube?

I heard the exact same thing as DX with the guitars. The drums sounded great though. Thought I heard a tiny touch of J.Priest too.

Hi there,

Thanks for the compliments! In terms of more stuff like this, here is another "classic metal" type song I wrote, which I donated to a project band with lyrics in an old Frisian dialect (old north German dialect):

I produced the song and played the guitars.

Since about 2014/2015, I shifted my music writing to grunge and moved away from metal. Here is a collection of some of my demos, mostly grunge influenced:

Hope you enjoy.

This is good.

I always want the guitars louder. You know how you know when it's actually loud? When the guitars are louder than the drums.

But that's my problem and I don't think it has to be yours. It sounds good as is.

If I'm gonna nitpick, I want a little more variation to the hat. (AND)I appreciate that you kept the crashes down, but there are actually times when I feel like I want a crash, but it's hidden behind a half-hat and/or something else. Like at the end, the crashes might as well not even be there.
