Go to preferences (select Editing Behaviour-->Mouse) and uncheck "Ignore mousewheel on all faders" which seems to be checked by default. Solves the issue here. |

Can't drag a pattern from MT PowerDrumKit
In Linux, I can't drag a pattern from MTPDK (as MIDI notes) to its track. It works perfectly on OS X.
When I drag and the point crosses the VST frame, the pointer changes to the drag icon with a "forbidden" sign on top (no entrance in red). Linux platform - OpenSuse tumbleweed, Gnome, updated. I tried MTPDK using either Carla or LinVst. |

That's because it is a Windows plugin running with Wine in Linux. When you use it in OS X it is actually running as a proper OS X plugin.
There is a workaround here: https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?p=2030985 |

I found a strange issue, which might be related to this:
https://forum.cockos.com/showpost.ph...&postcount=185 When I import a media item, duplicate it several times and press Undo (Ctrl+Z) all items disappear or get "minimized" respectively. Redo does not bring them back. I'm on v5.978 at the moment, but the bug (?) also occurs in 5.91pre4. I tried it with a default Reaper.ini file, but after some minutes the issue appears also. It doesn't seem to be a general problem as it only affects some media items:

I cannot duplicate your issue. (MX Linux 18_3 based on Debian Stretch, XFCE, Compton enabled). I was testing this using a Dev version of 5.978 (I forget which one since I overwrote it today) and the latest 5.979rc2. I tried using the menu to copy/paste as well as undo/redo, and I also tried using ctrl+left click/drag (to copy/paste) as well as ctrl+z (for undo) and ctrl+shift+z (for redo). It works properly every time.
I also tried with items of different lengths (since your items seem short in length), and "show overlapping media in lanes" (such as in your view) and also not with that option. I still can't reproduce the issue no matter how many times I try. I'm beginning to wonder if your system (your particular OS install?) has some issue. Do you have any OS-specific keyboard shortcuts assigned to any of the command shortcuts you'd normally use in Reaper? You might have to check that. Are there any other files except of Reaper.ini that store some information? Maybe I should completely remove the .config folder and install Reaper from scratch.

There are a number of ini files in the Reaper resource folder (along with reaper.ini) which have stored information.
It couldn't hurt to try a fresh install. I'd back up all the files (full backup of everything in the Reaper resource folder), try the fresh install, and if the problem is solved then maybe overwrite one ini file at a time to see when the problem comes back. |

Damn... I did a fresh install and after some minutes it occurs again.
edit: I booted into a MXLinux stick install and there it's working.

Maybe this helps. I did some more tests and this is reproducible:
I can do undo until I load a plugin (tested with Repro-1 and Hive from U-he). After loading the plugin it's not working anymore. This does not happen on the Live MXLinux install and it seems to be specific to my system.

The problem is solved. At least it´ s working at the moment. It was related to the decimal separator. I set everything to en_US.utf8 on my system now. Before it was German. I also had a comma sometimes in the REAPER.ini file as decimal separator next to point which likely caused the issue.

Memory leak?
Reaper 5.978
Linux Mint, 17.3 64 bit Cinnamon or Mate desktops CPU: AMD Phenom II X2 (yes, a little long in the tooth) RAM: 16 GB Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 210 (fanless/silent) Boot Disc: Samsung SSD 860 EVO 500GB (boot drive) Other storage: 3 Western Digital RED 2 TB Hard disks (RAID 5) Memory leak? Leaving Reaper running (with project saved and no track armed for recording) for a couple of hours (had situation that need to be urgently dealt with) when I came back the application was extremely sluggish, to the point of being unusable. Even quitting reaper was a problem, leaving unresponsive blank windows on the screen. Nothing else was running except the file manager so I restarted X-Windows (Ctrl+Alt+Backspace (but you need to re-enable this as newer distros have it disabled for "safety" reasons)). Restarted Reaper to resume work, and everything ran like clockwork, for awhile. When it starts to become sluggish, save your work, kill Reaper, restart, and away you go for another couple of hours (depending on your project size). Menus won't stay up. Occasionally when clicking on the drop-down menu bar, the menu drops down then vanishes, never giving the user a chance to make a selection. If in the middle of a project this can be rather disconcerting, bt you can save your project. Click on the close gadget and Reaper will ask you if you want to save the project, say YES. Then restart Reaper and all should be well again. Not a huge bug, but it should never happen. Perhaps related to the memory leak? |

OSC actions in linux Reaper
I don't know if this is universal, so i'll start here as if its a linux only bug.
I've managed to get OSC working in Reaper, controlled from a tablet running Touchosc. And i've managed to assign a couple of keystrokes enabling me to select next/previous tracks. The problem is the actions jump a track. In the osc midi monitor, it shows why. When the keystroke actions is pressed, it sends a signal value of 1.000000. When the key is released it sends another signal value of 0.000000. This is interpreted by Reaper/osc/something as 2 keystrokes, not one, so i go from Track 1 to track 3 to track 5 and so on. Is this a Reaper bug, or an osc issue? And if someone is using touchosc with the reaper templates, with linux Reaper, are you having the same problem? Alex.

Insert bank/program select event
I'm trying to add a Program Change in the correct lane (bank/program select) with the action "Insert bank/program select event" and nothing happens.
Anyone else have any success with this? Alex.

Default project settings media path doesn't persist
Can someone verify?
To reproduce: Open a project File > Project settings > Media tab Enter relative path under "Path to save media files", like Audio Click "Save as default project settings" File > New project tab File > Project settings > Media tab "Path to save media files" is blank

Custom font choice affects CPU use?
(I also posted this in the v5.979+dev0619 pre-release thread in case it affects more than Reaper for Linux. Here, it might get more Linux users' awareness and input.)
Here's a little something that caught me off guard. It seems the choice of font for the menus (in Reaper for Linux) can affect the CPU. I had edited the libSwell.colortheme file on my system while using MX Linux (using XFCE desktop environment), changing the font to Noto Sans (and making the font sizes a bit larger). It seemed to work fine. Noto Sans fonts are included in MX Linux, a significant number of them. Now I'm using Linux Mint (XFCE). By default it also has the Noto Sans font family (including additional variants). I imported all my previous Reaper settings (since it was a SSD format / new OS install) so when I started Reaper it was using that same libSwell.colortheme file. However it seemed the menus were sluggish. Opening the "options" menu for instance (since it's a long menu, good for this test) and moving the mouse cursor up/down, the highlighted menu option lagged behind the cursor significantly. Also my CPU spiked (I could hear the fan spinning up). When I (finally) tried a font other than Noto Sans (Open Sans for instance) in the libSwell.colortheme file, the menu responsiveness returned to normal and the CPU didn't spike nearly as high (probably a normal amount under the circumstances). I could guess that using certain fonts in a theme might also increase CPU and make things more sluggish. (So I switched all my custom fonts to Open Sans just in case.) I don't know why in Linux Mint XFCE this would be any different (same DE, using the same window manager/appearance/DPI/etc. settings as MX Linux since I'd made notes of all of it and set it up exactly the same in Mint as I'd done in MX), except for the fact I notice there are lots more Noto Sans family font variants installed (it seems there are ~2x the number as MX Linux, which is kind of insane). Perhaps if the font chosen in Reaper is part of a very large installed font family, it has something to do with it? (Just a blind stab in the dark.) It's not a huge deal since there are lots of fonts a person can use. But this might help narrow down some of the "sluggish UI" complaints happening especially with MacOS. If you want me to test something further, let me know. I don't plan to switch distros again for a while, but other than that I'm open to suggestions. |

[Resolved] Bug: Resizing Surge doesn't work correctly in Linux
Running the latest version of the now open source Surge (1.6.1.1) (available free here: https://surge-synthesizer.github.io/) in Reaper 5.979 Linux (native) on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.
Zoom settings above 100% (under menu in the bottom right had corner of the GUI) don't work properly (at least in Ubuntu 18.04 LTS). Here's the (correct) default zoom setting (100%): (Image removed as issue now resolved) but... Selecting ANY of the available sizes apart from the default 100%, i.e. from 125% to 300%, results in this (the REAPER plugin window expands but the plugin's GUI is cropped): (Image removed as issue now resolved) The plugin GUI size doesn't even change between 125-300%. (These zoom settings in Surge all work fine in Windows 10 with REAPER 5.979, BTW.) Last edited by Xasman; 01-14-2024 at 07:05 AM. |

Possible targeting bug? V5.981 I just noticed this today, and previously was not seeing it. When I click Trim/Read with the pointer tip dead center, I end up toggling Stereo/Mono.
I do use a 3rd party theme, but in the past it has never done that. I do also notice that when I move the cursor away from that spot and back, it will half the time light up Trim/Read like I have targeted it successfully. I did also try this with the stock theme, but the layout of the buttons are in completely different locations with the LCS-mod_Short_v3.0_Dark theme that I use. Anyway, I know how to deal with it now that I see what's going on, but like I mentioned, I've used the Trim/Read button with this theme in Linux before and not seen this ever, but it popped out at me a few times already today while I was performing some tests and I hadn't noticed that I was flipping the state of the Mono/Stereo button every time I was trying to click Trim/Read. |

Edit: Also I believe this is the link for the theme I'm using, which is the v3.0 version of LCS-mod. This link should be for the v3.0 version, and on closer inspection it looks like the bottom 1/16 of the Trim/Read button is the spot where it targets. Anything higher and it targets the Stereo/Mono button. https://stash.reaper.fm/theme/1747/L...Short_Dark.zip Last edited by Glennbo; 08-15-2019 at 09:37 AM. |

If you have time while looking into it, you might see if it is in any way related to the native ReaFX and how their sliders and backgrounds align. ReaComp is the farthest off of them and some like ReaEQ seem to be fine. Here's an example of the faders and their backgrounds being mis-aligned. Last edited by Glennbo; 08-15-2019 at 09:37 AM. |

They aren't controlled by the WALTER code the theme uses, so I suspect it is controlled by the Reaper UI code for Linux. If it requires different graphics, then it will require a separate theme for Linux.

Edit: I just put an instance of every ReaFX into a project and it looks like the only other one with an alignment issue is ReaGate, and it is very very slight. I'm quite sure there used to be more of them that looked similar to ReaComp, but it was many updates back. Last edited by Glennbo; 07-28-2019 at 03:42 PM. |

The bug was also there in Windows, so I'm surprised no one reported it sooner. Quote:
Pretty sure all the vertical faders use the same image file, but notice the Threshold slider is not nearly as wacked out as the Wet/Dry sliders. If it's not repeating in the other Reaper plugins, then I suspect it's a UI code bug for that specific plugin. Did you test in other themes, like the Default, to see if the slider lane is wider than it should or needs to be? It may be less noticeable in the default, so it might be easier to miss.

mixer bug 5.965 ->
I have a oddball behavor if I want to add "send/receives & hw outputs"
on channel 1 in the mixer, the popup just autocloses and it's impossible to use. This does not happen on any other channels in the mixer; also add "send/receives & hw outputs" on track 1 behaves normal. So there something bobo with the mixer and channel 1.
