Default How do I rig up a foot punch in pedal?

...I have a floor punch in pedal on my hard disc recorder & I wouldlike this facility when tracking in reaper...how is that possible?

I can't answer that, but I can tell you Reaper has auto-punch to save you that trouble.

To try it, select the area you wish to punch in, right click the record vutton and choose the auto punch option, put the curser at some point earlier than the punch in selection, and record.

If you have a MIDI keyboard, you can assign the sustain pedal to the record button, with (momentary switch) sustain pedals it records only as long the pedal is pressed down though. If you connect a push-push type switch you can take the foot off the pedal (at the cost of some precision I guess). But getting used to Auto-Punch is worth it since you can concentrate on the stuff you want to punch in 100%.

I didnt know that...I just tried it and it'll work for me for 99.9 % of the time...i guess the foot pedal allows me to decide as I play where to drop in/out though.
