Default PIP Circlular Overlay?

I'm interested in doing some picture in picture and would like to have the overlay video be round instead of square or rectangle. Something like a merge of the peephole FX with the Image Overlay FX. Has anyone done something like that?

You can achieve that with the modified peephole/vignette preset I published a few days ago. Here is the thread:

I noticed that thread and was wondering if it might do what I needed... but I wasn't at the right computer at the time and didn't get to check it out.

Will try it this evening. Thanks!

I'll head out the the recording machine and give it another try. Yesterday I was able to get the circular image from one video onto the main video, but it showed in the middle of the main video and I couldn't get it to move.

What I'm trying to do is that my buddy is playing rhythm guitar and singing on the main screen. In the bottom left I want a small closeup of me in another video zoomed in on my guitar, playing some fills.

So video 1 is the main video, full screen. From video 2 I want to take a zoom of the center of that image and display it lower left corner of the main video.

This version of the image overlay script does that great, though the result isn't round.

OK, looks like I figured it out. I needed to do the pan first using the Track opacity/zoom/pan FX and then reveal that spot on the screen using the Circular Overlay.

One thing you might consider adding is Opacity. To make it disappear I can reduce size to zero, but just making it all fade out would be a good option too.

There may be something odd going on when you set the revealed area to be at the edge (left in my case) of the screen, where a vertical stripe appears about 1 pixel wide on the edge.

I came up with an interesting effect, using your script twice on two separate instances of the same video to make a kind of Mickey Mouse with one ear to highlight just the guitar and leave the player mostly not visible.

This isn't public as of now. Just playing around and looking for ideas.

Edit 7/14, change to version with a little more EQ on vocals to make them less muddy.

Interesting visual effect. In your case since the simple circular hole seems a bit limited, there is another custom preset that allows you to "draw" the exact shape of the hole into a special control track. Look for the picture the cat with snow in the following thread:
https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=213043

BTW The project I was working on will be posted by my client on youtube very soon :-)

done!

Nice job papagirafe. I like how you made it look like the insert videos appear as an alcove feathered into the main videos.

The "feathered alcove" effect was the artistic concept behind this project and the reason why I invested time in modifying the preset. The same thing could have been achieved through the alpha mask track preset I mentioned earlier but with much more work. Finally the chromakey was out of the question since everything was already green and blueish.
