Default one guitar / bass => easy !

Hello,

quite simple for me, as I only record one guitar or bass at a time, all the rest is VSti...

So here it is:

[fingers in] Guitar/Bass [out]
[guitar in] Digitech RP 2000 [SPDIF out]
[SPDIF in] M-Audio Delta 66

Electric Guitar:
Yamaha RGX-A2 -> Line 6 Spider II -> Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS -> Reaper

Acoustic Guitar:
Yamaha FGX423SG -> Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS -> Reaper

Song:
TSM MT87S MkII -> Arts Tube MP -> Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS -> Reaper

Drums, Bass and Pads are VSTi, some just midiprogrammed and some played through a Evolution MK361C.

Have only tried the top two yet though, since I am still waiting for delivery of the Mic and Preamp from my local music store. The Electric Guitar chain works suprisingly good. I will in short time by a TSM MT58 and try using it to record the Amplifier. The Acoustic chain gives an excelent sound but fails to record plektrum sound, will try recording it though the MT87 Mic simultaneously as the above chain.

My soundcard is not the best and I would like to upgrade that too, but as a poor youth minister I simply can´t afford that right now, maybe after christmas.

Les Paul (Studio) here too, but I use the digital out of my multieffect, it is soooo much cleaner than the normal "out"... which is full of hiss...

By the way, I forgot to say that I only use the Digitech as a guitar in -> line out kind of device, and I don't use any amp sim or effect in it. I do everything on the PC. So much easy to edit afterwards if needed (except that I badly need a split/merge function within Reaper !)

I mainly use my own preamps(i´ve both made tubes and transformer balanced opamp based), i have 10 of my own, if more is needed i use a mackie 8-buss for the rest. into some RME converters into a Digiface.
Mics: B&K 4011, Neumann 184, Senn 421, Shure 57, Akg d112, some sennheiser MKH(forgot number), AT4040, Røde NTK, B&O BM3 and many others.
ALOT of guitars and amps. (i´m a guitar player, so i can´t resist when i see a good one)
I allways use a real amp when recording guitars.

Yes, I connected the line out of the amp to line in on the soundcard, works alot better than I tought it would. Though I expect it to sound better using a microphone, havent tried that yet, my electric guitar and amp is newly bought.

lots of different players
lots of different instruments
lots of different microphones
various preamps/consoles

then either:
alesis HD24 converters via Frontier Design Dakota card
or mackie onyx 1620 via firewire
or echo audiofire8 via firewire

to a laptop or a regular computer.

panasonic DA7 for fader control & control room functions

Default using the necktop

1. brain set to near infinite feedback loop
2. sidechained inputs from sex, drugs (only legal ones now) n RnR
3. headmounted delays (what was that melody again?)
4. paralell inputs from Spring, scents, sexual fantasies, old broken up relationships, bad bastards who did me wrong, current relationships and beer.
5. sends to band members and friend with great sound booths and mics.
6. returns via wav files on DVDs done in Logic Pro
7. line up wav files in various audio editors (getting used to Reaper). At this stage ripple edit in frustration and impatience.
8. Pour beer all over 'puter to punish it for being unresponsive.
9. Pour beer into self so lining up tracks more of a challenge.
10.play out using crappy cheap soundcard.
11.burn copy to play on house system during gigs, friends ghetto blaster, on good sound system that girl in band has.

12. remix properly now all faults are known.
13. Need to insert objectivity so put it aside (backed up to DVD) for somebody, who can come with a fresh mind to master.
