Something weird started happening with splitting takes

I usually split takes, and then slide the split wherever I want, if I want it to be earlier or later to accommodate some takes that are different than others. I usually never have issues.

Today though, I'm noticing that the behaviour I'm getting is as though the takes were glued at the split, so rather than being able to move the split wherever I want, the takes loop at the split. Please help.

Look in Preferences for "Trim content" and/or "Trim MIDI".

I can't believe I've been using reaper this long and have never changed that lol. Unless it was added as a more recent update with that setting activated.
