Default Video render comparisons...

Investigating my issues here https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?p=2366473 and here https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=245023, I rendered out the first second of that video project in different container and audio formats. I got some (to me) surprising results...

(Click the gif to see the full version)

In all cases I used h.264 as video format, and AAC 128 kbps or 24 PCM as audio formats. The video starts at a frame. It is 30 frames/sec. In all cases AAC (but not 24 PCM) gives clearly audible artifacts.

From the top in the figure:
  1. The original audio copied from the video project
  2. MOV + AAC, looks like it is on-time, but first 12 ms cut off
  3. MKV + AAC, 23 ms late
  4. MPEG-2 + AAC, 23 ms late
  5. AVI + AAC, 23 ms late
  6. AVI + AC3, 6 ms late, initial artifact inaudible
  7. MOV + 24 PCM, fine
  8. AVI + 24 PCM, fine
  9. MKV + 24 PCM, fine

FLV I could not import back into Reaper. And as mentioned in the other threads linked to above, I could not render any container with mp3. This is all done with ffmpeg/libav DLL decoder v58.91.100

I do not know if this is ffmpeg or Reaper, but it sure is not as it should be...
