Default Sync Problem between VST3 parameter and track control (Fixed)

It appears the Reaper track control is out of sync with the VST3 melda production parameters.

I'm using windows 10, Reaper 6.13 But the problem also happens with older versions.

Problematic plugins i could find so far :
Melda Production 14.08e VST3 bundle.
DMG audio VST3 plugins

The problem is quite simple to reproduce :

> Insert a track in Reaper, insert for example MeldaProduction MUtility VST3 on the track.

In the FX window , move the MUtility volume control then Click on "param", add the volume control to the track control.

Midi Learn the MUtility volume with a midi controller.

Now when you press your midi controller theMUtility volume knob goes from 0 to 100 but the track control goes from 100 to 0 !!

The track control should reflect the correct state of the volume knob.
It works fine with the VST2 version.

> As an alternative, if you use a melda VST/VST3 plugin with modulators and tie the modulator to the multiparameter, then if you add the multiparameter to the track control, you will see the track control is not moving/updating correctly.

I'm hoping this can be confirmed and sorted out.

The track control is inverted and only updates itself when the mouse goes over it.

I would not care it if was just the track control, but the midi feedback to the midi controller via Realearn seems to follow the non updated track control and does not represent the real position of the controlled parameter.

Here it is now doing the same thing with DMG trackcomp2 VST3... so it's not just meldaproduction.

I tried this with Reaper v5.99 , the problem was already the same.

Tried VST3 from various other plugins developpers (Plugin alliance, nembrini, Overloud, Arturia...), no problems.

Update with Reaper 6.15 and Melda 14.10

> When an oscillating melda multiparameter is linked to a Track Control, the track control now updates when there is some midi controller input. (thanks !)

> But the main bug is still there when a melda VST3 parameter is linked to a track control and then learned with a midi controller...

The track control on the left of the screen capture is completely out of synch/inverted from the VST3 parameter.

The Ratio knob is moved by the midi controller. Look at the track control, sometimes it is at 100% when the real parameter value is 0 !

The problem doesn't seem to be that it is inverted, it seems to be that the value lags behind? Can you do some more movements that are not at the extreme values and see if that demonstrates this?

Ah interesting, when i use a midi controller knob slowly, it works fine.

If i slam the knob one way, the track control gets stuck somewhere in the middle.

On the gif above, I'm using a footcontroller that goes from 0 to 100 instantly.

So you are probably correct Justin. Thanks for taking the time to look into it.

I guess maybe it can be solved by enlarging the timeframe in wich the parameter can update itslef to account for the lag.

I finally understand why no one was confirming the problem...

I assigned a second parameter to a midi knob controller : while i turned the knob, all the track controls are updated, and the first parameter assigned to the midi footcontroller works fine during this time.

So it's confirmed, probably just a matter of enlarging the update timewindow when a short midi signal is sent.

I could probably find a workaround by setting up a secondary midi message on every button of the footcontroller, with a slight delay on the message, to give more time to Reaper for the parameters to update.

But it's a pain. Crossing fingers for a fix in future updates.
