Default Slowing down the first bar

I have recorded a vocal and then a vocal back-up. I am cutting out some of the harmony back-up in places.
But now I would like to start the song with a couple of bars of the vocal + back-up completely unaccompanied but a lot slower than the rest of the song.
If I split the first few bars and then hold the end (starting from the split) will this slow down the item without affecting the rest of tune and all the accompaniment?

I did look at some earlier posts on slowing down items compared with the rest of the tune but they kind of tailed off without drawing any real conclusions! They hinted at markers.

You can easily stretch a clip as you describe - just hold down the ALT key as you drag. This will of course have the effect of slowing the clip and may be OK as long as you are not stretching it too far as you may well get artifacts that are not very musical. This especially perhaps if they are "exposed" and not part of a mix.

No problem.
BTW the reference to Markers was probably to Stretch Markers - that's another approach that is probably more flexible.
