Default One Midi Editor per Session Option

I've inquired about this before, but now the request has changed into something closer to what Reaper already has. We currently have the option to have one Midi Editor open per project. How about one Midi Editor per Session? Eh?

---

The purpose: Enable Sub-Projects to act as compositional parts.
Editing midi within a subproject can be done while viewing Midi parts from other, relative projects that are open in the session.

This way, one can break sections into respective sub-projects, yet be able to edit their contents in a way that is not disconnected from the rest of the overall session.

I guess I'm just trying to find a non-linear "pattern-based" [FL Studio/Reason/Studio One] work(flow|around) in Reaper. I've tried the following ways but still trying to figure the "best", most natural-feeling, way.

1) Using take lanes as track pattern options along the arrangement
2) Playtime (which is more of a preparation for live playing than an quick pattern/arrangement approach)
3) Using Region updates (ActonDev_Region Copy & Scan Paste.lua) which works well, but there's no separation or partitioning of the workspace. All hashing is done on the same arrangement (rough ideas and final).

I guess that PiPs felt like a sort of separation from the final arrangement.

Is there another workflow that I am not knowledgeable of?
