Default Then and Now

I never usually go back to music once it's done, but I had an urge to try this again.

I think I've finally got over a plateau I'd been on for a long time with mixing. I'd be interested in hearing what others think.

Cool concept! I dig what you're trying to do here. My only nit would be the bass synth seems really loud to the point it's covering up the vocals a lot. Other than that, what a cool tune!

Thanks for listening and the comment!

Hmmm... I'll have to come back to it with fresh ears tomorrow. It was posted in haste and I'd probably heard the vocal so much today while mixing it that I didn't notice burying it behind the bass.

Thanks again!

I carved out some more space. It was the bass guitar I played in unison with the synth that was eating up the vocal rather than the synth itself. Tweaked some other bits too. The link should be the same.

Or maybe the vocal could come up a tad in parts, especially the hook but that's a nitpick - I love the tune!

Thanks!

I did want the vocal tucked in, but also there is all kinds of nasty garbled weirdness from the vocoding, so there's only so much you can push it before that becomes distracting, for me at least...

...also, when the vocal is pushed it makes the drums seem much less thunderous in comparison. It's all a trade-off!

I figured it could get scratchy turned up so all good and wouldn't over think it.
