No need to apologize at all, Phroneris!
I was only checking whether the string is truncated in the translation as well.
I think Justin is happy to know about these little things.

New Template - 2020-04-25
Hi ¡¡¡
Is the new template the file in https://www.landoleet.org/ called
"reaper609rc1.ReaperLangPack 2020-04-25 18:59 815K " ?
I saw it is outside of 8in folder as always.
Thanks and hope you are ok ¡¡¡

Hi,
In 'template_reaper602rc1.ReaperLangPack.txt' the following lines are missing:
C781F39457E72180=Do not render files that are likely silent
074E339A4B844EEF=Show file part before path
3C50D04ABFECEE2A=Clear recent project list
7F29D9C8F6CA4E90=Ruler label spasing:
1AA4198DCD5FD638=After adjusting tempo, set imported media to auto-stretch at tempo changes
E34B135B3690F83C=Prevent mouse edits of single CC events from moving past other events
0851671C9F632C9A=Display MIDI:
FDBECE5C059D8C81=Program names
8123A218D1449189=Text events
FAA4C30CE6E7A158=Sample view:
The following two lines in the drop-down list of the Preferences have unreadable symbols in Russian:
427D00954F5D0BD8=Always prompt
427D00954F5D0BD8=Всегда напоминать
and
41C320D729252933=Ignore tempo suggested by filename

Hi,
In 'template_reaper602rc1.ReaperLangPack.txt' the following lines are missing:
[DLG_238]
[metronome]
E05E476CABF7E93C=Pattern should be 4 beats. If necessary, the pattern will be padded with B
2F90E3509B93D0B6=Primary:%c Secondary:%c Triplet:%c Skip:%s
I think that spaces should be inserted in this line, i.e.
now:
Primary:%c Secondary:%c Triplet:%c Skip:%s
must be:
Primary: %c Secondary: %c Triplet: %c Skip: %s
When you add these files to ReaperLangPack and translate them into Russian, the text remains in English.
So the translation of these strings is not supported?
Thanks.

Hi Nktch and welcome to the Reaper forums!
You could try these:
Quote:
2F90D3509B93B586=Primary:%c Secondary:%c Triplet:%c Skip:%c
53F7269704C81F19=Pattern should be %d beats. If necessary, the pattern will be padded with %c
|
Put them instead of [DLG_238] into the [common] section. Then it should work (at least it does here).
When translating, you surely can add spaces following the double-colons.

Hi, Mr. Data
Did you try to put them only in the [metronome] section ??
Kind regards,

Yes, I did, but for some reason they didn't work there.
BTW: some other entries appearing in the metronome configuration dialog are also in the [common] section, but not in the [DLG_238] section.

Hi, Mr. Data
No, this method does not work.
And trimmed the end of the line in the entry:
Primary:%c Secondary:%c Triplet:%c Skip:%c
Thanks

Hi, Mr.Data
Excuse me.
I inserted rows with incorrect text into the calculator and got the wrong row index.
Now everything is all right.
I use 'template_reaper602rc1.ReaperLangPack.txt' to update the translation.
Is there an updated version of this template?
Thanks,
Nikitich

Hi, Mr.Data
The encoding problem in version 6.11 has not been fixed.
The following two lines in the drop-down list of the Preferences have unreadable symbols in Russian:

427D00954F5D0BD8=Всегда напоминать
and
41C320D729252933=Ignore tempo suggested by filename

I doubt if we should use a "dev" langpack as our new template file.
It's neither named as "template" nor placed in i8n directory.
"dev" seems like saying "wip" or "under construction".

I have the same doubt.
Is there going to be new templates as usual or there is a new sistem for this ?
Thanks

By the way, I've found Reaper v6.11 has an interesting ReaScript feature named as "LocalizeString()".
For example:
- Create "test.lua"
- Code:
Code:
reaper.MB(reaper.LocalizeString("&Edit", "common"), "test", 0)
- Save it and run
Yields:
The result must depend on what langpack is applied.
This API function may be a feature for those who develop and distribute ReaScript libraries rather than who localize Reaper like us,
but it's just interesting.

Hi Nikitich,
Sorry, but I couldn't find a way to solve your problem (yet).
Although using your string, it shows something else here than in your screenshot, but it's garbage anyway.
It seems to be the same issue that we have in e.g. German or French sometimes, using characters such as ä ö ü æ ç.
Where such issues appeared, the devs corrected them string by string and there was (and still is) no way to correct this by us translators AFAIK.

Hi
Is there finally any change in the way langpack is updated ?
I find strange that there is no new langpack in 8in page, besides all news in Reaper.
Thanks for answering

I updated my Developer-Langpack to Reaper 6.12c
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Ul...ReaperLangPack
For those new to it: it shows in the dialogs, in which section of the langpack a certain string can be translated.
BTW: Would you benefit from a difftool for Langpacks? So you can see, what has been added/changed since an earlier version?

But what I miss are all the terms in the 'Format' column, like e.g. 'automatic' or 'description=value' (and all others that imho should be localizeable). Even the date format like '2020-06-22 or 2020-06-22T22:51' looks odd to me. IMHO it should read (in German) '22.06.2020 or 22.06.2020, 22:51' Yes, I admit, the format YYYY-MM-DD Time is logical, but in German for some inscrutable reason the format is reversed i.e. DD-MM-YYYY.

Hello Mr. Data!
Thank you for the feedback
The metadata window is an expansive window. Previously it worked correctly, but after version 6.10+dev presented the problem I reported.
English language does not present this problem in the window. But here it returned to normal after 1.45 magnification.
Best regards,

Ok, in the most recent update of my Ultraschall-API, I've added a developer-tool for comparing two LangPacks which puts all the additions/differences in the two files into the clipboard.
Just install Ultraschall-API, run the action "Script: ultraschall_Add_Developertools_To_Reaper.lua" and then you have
"ultraschall_developertool_Compare_LangPacks.l ua"
available.
Hope this helps a little for your translation-works.

Thing is (in my observation) that we often use the online calculator only to find a number of those 'manually' translated lines are not present in the following updated template file, which are then, when merged, shown in "not in template, possibly obsolete section" blocks. This results in additional work by checking, whether these lines are really 'obsolete' or used but just not in the new template.
This isn't really helpful. The opposite is the case, because we always have to check, whether our own work is still relevant.
Since this localization thing is going on (btw. for more than eight years now), I more and more come to the conclusion that it's not important anyway, since no real effort has been taken by now to make it a serious part of REAPER, i. e. to make strings consequntly and systematically available to translaters and make it possible to align elements in dialogs so they don't look like put together in a kindergarten. This, at least for me, is even more disappointing, since it takes a vast amount of hours to make it good and, compared to translations of other DAWs, trying to make it stand at least at an equal level besides them. I've made a number of proposals, some rubbish, some (IMHO) not that bad, but more than traces of these there haven't been taken, regretably.

You should probably use the release version or (as is the case now), release-candidate versions, as the development build langpacks may have strings that don't end up in a release.

Hi, Justin!
I partially agree with Mr. Data's words, but I believe that each translator ends up developing his form to compare
the versions. For example, I haven't used the 'merge_langpacks' tool for a long time. This improved tool could be of
great help. There is a company for which I translate some management Softwares for computers and the tool used to
compare is absolutely fantastic called "TsiLang Files Editor" and having something similar for REAPER would be a dream!!
In these years when I translate REAPER, I have developed my way of comparing versions, and it has proven to be, at
least for me, very efficient. To the point that in 5 minutes I know that version 6.13rc2 is unchanged from 6.13rc1...
Or when I warned about a text error (Release version 6.12+dev0707) even before it was posted on the Forum.

Kind regards,
