Default Best way to automate mute all other tracks (aka solo)

I realize that solo is a monitoring function and can't be automated. But that's basically the effect I want. Right now I'm selecting all tracks, deselecting the solo track, going into touch automation mode, muting and unmuting everything, and going back to trim/read mode. It's painful. Surely there is a better way to do this in Reaper. Any tips?

Use Solo exclusive - Control Alt click Solo button - on the track you want to solo.

Or

Alt click Mute button to mute all others except the one track you don't want muted.

Right click over Mute or Solo buttons to see all options.

I think you could use volume envelopes to achieve the same effect.

you'd have to be a bit more specific about what you're trying to achieve / how you'd want to work...I mean, do you want to be clicking on buttons, or do you want some kind of automation for this thing?
This could definitely be scripted...

(I've got a script that mutes all non-selected tracks, somewhere)

Oooh, just thought.

If you've got a "mute state" (a set of mutes) or "solo state" you need to have automated you can probably use SWS snapshots & action markers
