But if other people like it that's fine, but i would be interested in hearing about in what situation this "half sync" would be more desirable than an "full sync".

What is the intention for the action?
Is it "one area, spanning the left-edge of Item 1 to the right-edge of Item 2?
..or is it "multiple areas, each encompassing an item?
That you asked "are they overlapping" indicated to me that you think the latter?

There's use cases for both, one you want "one area encompassing everything" and the other you just want areas "around the selected stuff, individually".

The inetention is "multiple areas, each encompassing an item", but it is possibly not working as intended when items are overlapping.

When schwa is ready.. I think something as simple as double clicking a lane header/panel could show and solo just that lane and hide the others But..
Keep the other lane panels showing maybe so we can easily try other lanes takes?

Wow! A lot of new users will be grateful for this. (Or they won't, because they don't know). Maybe add a warning when enabling it: "Can cause serious headaches"

Got it, I think that might serve as the more useful of the two so that's good - if the other version also existed (or we could get away with a Script) that'd be even better.
Razors (and razor-like gestures) are about to become really central to a bunch of folks with this comping work. If there were a compilation of RE quirks/struggles that could maybe be looked at along the way as stuff comes up? it'd do so much for Razor Edits feeling like a complete, refined tool. It's so close.
