This is really cool,
I may try a mix in the near future. (working on some other stuff right now that is keeping me busy).
I did read over the rules page.
Just a few questions to clarify:
-If it is a reaper plugs only mix, is that any jsfx or reaplug that is including in the most recent version of reaper?
-Can I hear the song somewhere before downloading the entire project, to see if I want to mix it or do I have to download the whole thing to audition it?
-Should it be "mastered" or just to have it at -14 LUFS is the only requirement there?
Thanks!
John

Hello
Question 1: Yes
Question 2: Sort of. If you google the name of the song and the artist you're gonna find it, but I usually don't provide a reference to the original mix.
Question 3: Mastered but -14 LUFS is the only mandatory requirement.
I am not having much time, I have been wanting to participate for long and I always end up postponing it for the next month... it can't be. I will participate this month. (note to myself: check this message next month... xD)
by the way the prize is a full VIP license which includes all VIP scripts, not just Track Inspector VIP

now... let's download the stems!
Oh wow! so glad you'll be joining us this month! thanks for the clarification on the prize, I'll change the description in the first post
Just finished and uploaded mine for this month. This is right up my 'ally'. I've done a lot of live production for bands just like this with horns. Always LOVE working with horns although a lot of live engineers cringe. If you know how to EQ they aren't scary at all.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's take on this one for sure! Good luck everyone!

Hey man thanks a lot for the feedback but try to give your feedback in the feedback phase at the end of the month. Any comments right now might bias other users that didn’t even listen to the mixes in the first place. Very appreciated but let’s try to follow the usual program, okay?
Also, please DON’T say which one is your mix. That’s like spoiling the end of a movie!

Sorry, didn't occur to me. I thought the first month I did this someone else posted feedback during voting. Could be wrong. Anyway I deleted my comments and will repost at the appropriate time!

It seems that the website allow to vote more than once...
The only way I can really fix that is by creating a login system... which is a huge endeavour and I want to keep the voting open to anybody. The only thing I can do is check the IP address of each entry, which is what I've been doing for years now
Results are in... and they are very interesting this time
The first 4 positions were really close. A couple more votes and the results would have been completely different. However, only one user was able to please the majority of the voters, and that person was... UEMA!
I think it's only the second time you've participated so nice job please choose a song from here and send me a DM when you're done choosing.
For the others, please now let's give everybody a round of applause and let's share some feedback, ok?
#01 good mix, for my taste guitar and organ could be a bit more present
#02 toms could sound fatter, snare sounds compressed, good mix
#03 my mix (would do less reverb if i could change things)
#04 vocals sound a bit dull from proximity effect, drums very dry
#05 vocals need a dip at 600Hz, good mix, good energy in the horn section
#06 balanced but sounds a bit small
#07 balanced and clear, everything sounds focussed, very good
#08 everything is a bit thin and dry, mix could use more warmth
#09 good mix, could be a bit more transparent
#10 mix sounds dull, everything except vocals sounds far away
#11 mix sounds like on small speakers, needs more bass and warmth
#12 good balanced mix
#13 horns very far away, weird delay on vocals (but interesting)
#14 horns a bit thin, not a big fan of putting the whole section in one speaker, mix could sound bigger, like your guitar sound
#15 and i thought my mix has plenty of reverb, might be an esthetic descision but things get muddy by so much reverb
#16 vocals need more eq (dip in low mids), the whole mix would be more open
#17 toms could sound better, good mix but a bit dull overall
